I used Cynder's tornado, whatever it's called. I don't remember if I had the infinite mana cheat or not, but I don't think I did..

Yeah, but in some freak way I kept randomly getting gems. It was probably the regenerating mana armor.

Does armor count as cheating?

Actually, Cynder's poison element can help, if it's fully upgraded. Spyro's flame breath is good to use, too. After hitting an enemy with either, the flames/poison will continue to burn/...poison the enemies, so you keep getting hits. Along with swinging them around and hammering them and stuff.

You grab hold of remaining enemy's and smash them on some mana gems...

I have 999, too, without any cheats. You need only Cynder's wind or Spyro's ice tornado and full of enemies. Keep pressing... hmmm... circle button, I think and you are done.
