''DARKCLAN!'' raventail yowled as he raced against the border. darkclan cats spat as they charged out of the undergrowth. flamestar snarled as he watched his warriors move in on the attack. sapphiretail, a blue-gray tom with dark blue eyes could see the horror in flamestar's orange eyes. ''FLAMESTAR!'' cried sapphiretail, trying to get him to notice. before flamestar could respond, a dark brown tabby she-cat lunged behind him. her blood-red eyes burning. sapphiretail gasped as he snapped his fangs onto her leg. he pinned her to the ground. ''BRAKENFACE!'' he snarled as he pressed his mighty paw against her throat. she smiled at him coldly. ''that's right sapphiretail!'' she laughed. sapphiretail growled at her. ''get out of fireclan territory brakenface!'' he hissed narrowing his eyes. the black tip of his tail flicked as he snarled at her. ''then you are going to have to go through gorseclaw!'' she mewed coldly, escaping his grasp. he stood there with a blank look. a black warrior with a tail fluffed out like a raven's was being chased by a darkclan warrior. ''ha! ha! too slow!'' he meowed. ''raventail! there you are!'' sapphiretail purred. ''at your servece!'' he grimiced. ''lets go find flamestar!'' he told him, his pale blue eyes wide. ''right.'' the two fireclan warriors raced off to search for him. darkstar's dark brown coat shone in the moonlight. flamestar was in a striking position. ''fireclan territory belongs to me now!'' darkstar hissed coldly, smiling. flamestar bared his teeth. ''NO!!!'' the two leaders hissed, and spat at eachother. both glaring. darkstar reared onto his hind legs, claws out. he swiped his claws against flamestar's face. ''AHH!'' he yowled in pain. ''starclan...please...'' he whispered as he callasped onto the ground. ''FLAMESTAR!'' called sapphiretail, his eyes wide with fear. raventail gasped. at the same time a darkclan warrior fell to the floor motionless. ''WARRIOR DOWN!'' ''RETREAT!'' yowled darkclan cats as they raced off. ''DARKCLAN! RETREAT! DARKCLAN!'' announced a large dark brown tabby with stron haunches. it was gorseclaw. ''until next time sapphiretail!'' smiled brakenface coldly as she followed her clan mates.

''i want to rip her to shreds and feed her to dogs!'' said raventail. a large silver tabby, with light gray stripes and teal colored eyes padded over to flamestar. his white claws glimmered. ''LEADER! are you alright? how many lives do you have?!?'' he asked frantically. ''all nine of them silverclaw.'' said flamestar, struggeleing to his paws. sapphiretail, and raventail watched him. ''we wont let darkstar take fireclan...'' a few moons later... sapphiretail uncurled himself in his nest. he stretched his legs then yawned. he decided to stroll around the camp. sapphiretail noticed a familiar dark brown figure on fireclan territory! ''HEY!'' he hissed, forcing the she-cat to open her eyes. it was brakenface. she slowly opened her eyes. ''what?'' she yawned. ''what are you doing here?!?'' snarled sapphiretail. ''sleeping...why?'' said brakenface. he glared at her. ''what are you doing in fireclan territory?'' he repeated. ''i had no where else to go! sapphiretail...'' spat brakenface. ''huh? what do you mean brakenface?'' he asked, lashing his tail side to side. '' i've left darkclan because...because...no one cares for a mouse-brained fool like me!'' she admitted, bursting into tears. ''i do...'' he told her, eyes glimmering. ''really?'' her red eyes glimmered back. the two warriors gazed at eachother. ''i love you brakenface...'' he smiled. ''i love you too!'' she smiled back. sapphiretail nuzzeled her. she purred with delight. flamestar noticed them. bloodstorm and mousefang trotted over to them. ''what is she doing here?'' demanded flamestar. bloodstorm bared his teeth. brakenface tucked her ears back, fur bristeling. ''she left darkclan.'' said sapphiretail. ''is that so?'' he hissed. ''I DID!'' she spat at them. ''darkstar didn't want me in his clan anymore!'' exclaimed brakenface. flamestar stood there. ''lets keep her as a prisinor!'' said mousefang. ''good idea!'' mewed bloodstorm. ''ENOUGH!'' growled flamestar. ''i've decided...brakenface you may stay. but you're going to have to earn the clan's trust.'' ''i will flamestar.'' she dipped her head in repect then nudged her head against sapphiretail's chest. flamestar smiled.

many moons had passed since brakenface joined fireclan. sapphiretail watched over his new born kit. the kit's pelt was blue-gray like his father. his paws were flame colored along with the end of his tail. his blue eyes glimmered in the moonlight. ''what shall we call him sapphiretail?'' brakenface asked, purring. ''look at those paws...like a phoenix's...and those eyes...they remind me of you...'' ''and that fur.'' she purred, holding the young kit in her gentle paws. the dark brown she-cat lapt her son's head. sapphietail smiled. ''we'll call him, phoenixkit.'' they smiled at the same time, nuzzeling him. a set of amber eyes watched them. ''what shall we do now gorseclaw?'' asked coldspirit, peering through the ferns. ''remember what i'd told you...'' gorseclaw smiled coldly. ''but the moon looks high enough.'' he hissed back. ''just wait for the signal.'' spat gorseclaw, lowering his back. sapphiretail growled. ''did you hear something?'' he asked. ''what is it?'' mewed brakenface. phoenixkit hugged his mother. she lapt him again. her red eyes full of fear. one of the rouges swung its tail around. ''that's the siganl! NOW!'' ordered gorseclaw as the darkclan deputy lunged out of the bushes. coldspirit followed. sapphiretail padded outside of the queen's den. silverclaw gazed at him. ''I'LL HANDLE THE ROUGES! YOU GO STOP GORSECLAW FROM GETTING YOUR KIT!'' cried silverclaw. sapphiretail nodded. gorseclaw stalked his way over to where brakenface was. sapphiretail's eyes widened. ''STAY AWAY FROM BRAKENFACE!'' snapped sapphiretail, digging his claws into gorseclaw. he snarled at him. gorseclaw plucked brakenface up. ''don't hurt him!'' she said slowly. gorseclaw smiled at her. he bit down harder onto her neck. silverclaw scratched coldspirit's face. raventail rushed over to sapphiretail. ''NO! RAVENTAIL!'' raventail stopped in his tracks. sapphiretail sighed. he dug his claws deeper. gorseclaw dropped brakenface to the ground. she layed there motionless. ''no...NO! BRAKENFACE!'' he released his grasp then nuzzeled his dead mate. flamestar ordered warriors to go help silverclaw. sapphiretail glared at him. ''WHY?!'' ''because she's a traitor!'' he hissed at him. gorseclaw lunged at him. sapphiretail callasped onto the ground. ''goodbye...pha-phoenix..ka-kit...'' slowly sapphiretail's eyes closed. gorseclaw and the rouges raced back into the brambles. raventail could hardly believe his eyes. phoenixkit watched the whole thing.

sapphire, coldspirit, along with his allies, was long dead before this time period.

you see, coldspirit and his band were a very terrible group of cats. they came from ancient clans, not from darkclan. it is said that coldspirit's eyes truned red from the blood he'd spilled. so since he is long gone, he is just a tale to frighten kits. for example, "don't say things like that, or coldspirit will come haunt you."

so is someone going to mother pheonixkit cause his parents are dead?

raventail raced over to his two closest friends. ''sa-sapphiretail...? bra-brakenface...?'' no responce. snowfoot, a beautiful golden tabby padded over to him. ''raventail...are you alright...?'' she mewed. raventail dipped his head. ''why...? why them snowfoot...?'' flamestar, slong with his other clan mates watched raventail. flamestar pushed his way to the front. ''no...'' raventail's eyes grew watery. ''he-he was my best friend...'' ''my boldest warrior...gone...along with brakenface...our nobelest...'' soon there was silence. phoenixflame hid in a corner where no one could see him. ''we shall have a beriaul cerimony for them.'' he annouced. flamestar raced up to the high rock. ''EVERYONE!'' he yowled. everyone turned to him. ''we've have lost two of our finest warriors...it is a sad day for us...'' flamestar took a deep breath. ''but i know that starclan is watching over them. so please...let them safely make their way....'' he paused once more. ''tonight will be the night for them to be the brightest stars in the sky. raventail's ear twitched. he entered the gorse tunnel. he turned his head. in the corner of his eye he'd noticed a small gray kit shuddering in the corner. the kit's ears were tucked. ''you look alot like your parents...wait a minute! you're sapphiretail and brakenface's kit!'' he meowed. the kit's eyes grew wide. ''its alright little guy. do you have a name?'' the kit began to speak. ''pho-nix.. kit'' he mumbled. raventail smiled. ''well phoenixkit. do you want to come with me?'' he asked. phoenixkit's legs shook rapidly. then stopped. he nodded then stumbled his way over to raventail. he gently placed his teeth onto the kit's skin, picking him up. cats from outside gazed at their dead warriors. silverclaw sat beside mousefang. snowfoot shared tongues with sapphiretail and brakenface one last time. she stepped back. raventail padded his way out of the den. he placed phoenixkit onto the ground. phoenixkit snuggled his head into both of his parents' pelts. raventail sighed then lapt his head. ''come phoenixkit. lets leave flamestar be.'' raventail tucked his ears back. he dragged his tail as he gazed at snowfoot. ''my closest clan mates....gone....'' his voice echoed. phoenixkit nudged his head aganst raventail's slender leg. ''alright.'' he smiled, gently picking up the young kit. flamestar stood there the whole night.

snowfoot purred as she watched yellowkit and phoenixkit suck from her. she smiled. raventail trotted into the queen's den. ''how's phoenixkit doing?'' he asked. ''he's doing fine!'' she purred back. raventail shared tongues with her. her brown eyes glimmering. phoenixkit stretched his legs then curled next to yellowkit. ''hopefully flamestar will pick you as his mentor.'' said snowfoot. ''me?'' he asked, eyes wide. ''well, you are sapphiretail's friend right?'' ''yes.'' ''then why don't you teach him? he needs all the knowledge he can get from someone who's been around sapphiretail.'' he nodded. ''true.'' the golden tabby wrapped her tail around the two kits. her snow-white paw was touching his fluffed out tail. ''he'll be fine.'' raventail's ears pricked up. ''toadfoot?'' the dark brown tabby sat beside them. ''yes. how is he?'' ''doing alright.'' ''good.'' he mewed as he padded his way out. ''you are quite lucky...little one...'' mewed snowfoot. ''adderpaw, you will now be known as...adderclaw!'' darkstar annouced to the clan. adderclaw was a slender jet black tom, with a narrow head and long fangs. his tail was shaped like a snake's and his eyes were orange with a red puple. the cat smiled coldly. ''i am honored.'' he hissed, dipping his head. darkstar smiled. cats from below mewed with amusment. ''be sure to pass on your skills when you've earned a apprentice.'' ''i will.'' said adderclaw, flicking his snake-like tail. wildkit crept her way over to phoenixkit. ''momma look!'' she mewed. ''what is it dear?'' ''look at his fur! its so blue! and those paws!'' she pointed out. ''yes wildkit. he is. now lets leave him.'' ''awwwww...'' wildkit whined as her mother carryed her away. phoenixkit slowly opened one of his eyes then closed them. raventail padded out of the gorse tunnel then made his way back to the warrior's den. ''you must be proud.'' said silverclaw. ''of what?'' raventail asked. ''of raising that kit.'' raventail stood there for a few seconds then finally said, ''well yeah...but i'd rather see sapphiretail and brakenface raise him then i....'' he admitted. ''you miss him don't you?'' raventail nodded slowly. ''we all do. now lets get some rest. we're going out on patroal tomorrow, and we must be ready.'' raventail yawned as he curled in his nest. he smiled in his sleep.

oh, okay! you'll meet silverclaw's mate in this part. she's wolfpelt.


''wake up!'' mewed wildkit, trying to get phoenixkit up. she shook him. ''wake up! wake up!'' phoenixkit slowly opened his eyes. he stretched his legs then rose up. ''what is it?'' he asked. ''come on! come on! come on!'' she urged him. wolfpelt, a brown she-cat with aqua colored eyes stalked out of the den with her kit silverkit. silverclaw nuzzeled her then lapt his head. ''good morning phoenixkit.'' he mewed firmly. raventail pelted out of the warriors' den. ''phoenixkit! what are you doing outside the den?'' he lift his eyebrow. ''snowfoot told me that i could play!'' he meowed back, flicking his tail. ''oh, alright...but stay by snowfoot okay?'' said raventail. toadfoot padded over to them. ''raventail, silverclaw, bloodstorm. i want you to go out near darkclan's border.'' he ordered. phoenixkit looked up. ''hi!'' ''oh, hello!'' toadfoot lowered his head. ''how are you little one?'' he asked. ''good!'' snowfoot shared tongues with raventail. ''be careful!'' she mewed gently. ''don't worry...i will...'' the three warriors padded away from the queens' den along with toadfoot. phoenixkit followed them. ''oh no you don't!'' said snowfoot, placing her teeth on his neck, lifting him up. she dropped him next to yellowkit. ''listen to momma!'' she mewed. phoenixkit dipped his head. ''okay snowfoot.'' she smiled. ''stay by me. its not safe near darkclan...'' snowfoot told him. wildkit jumped on top of him. ''im wildkit! what's your name?'' she asked, licking his ear. ''phoenixkit.'' he smiled back, licking her black tortiseshell colored fur. her holly-green eyes glimmered. his blue eyes glimmerd back. ''i want to be a warrior when i get bigger!'' said silverkit. ''i want to be one too!'' said yellowkit, tucking her ears back. ''i want to be just like my momma!'' wildkit mewed to the two of them. ''what do you want to be phoenixkit?'' she asked him. he tucked his ears back, dipping his head. he lashed his tail side to side. ''well...i want to be a leader like flamestar...'' said phoenixkit, shuffeling his paws. ''a leader?'' he nodded. flamestar smiled as he watched them a few tail lenghs away. phoenixkit smiled at them.

oakkit and hawkkit trailed out of their dens along with their mothers. ''a leader?'' laughed oakkit. phoenixkit narrowed his eyes. ''well i think he's going to be!'' hissed widkit. ''ra-really?'' he asked. she smiled at him. oakkit and hawkkit looked at eachother. ''well i think he wont!'' said hawkkit. wildkit tucked her ears back. ''he's going to be the bestest leader we'll ever had! and when he does, you'll going to wish you never say what you say!'' phoenixkit's ears pricked up. silverkit and yellowkit stood next to them. ''well if that's twue then i guess...'' ''ENOUGH YOU TWO!'' spat their mothers. ''sorry.'' said oakkit and hawkkit. ''its okay!'' mewed phoenixkit. wildkit licked him. he purred. ''when will raventail come back?'' asked phoenixkit, eyes glimmering. ''soon dear, soon.'' snowfoot assured him. ''oh, okay then.'' yellowkit smiled. ''now, lets go get something to eat.'' she told them. ''can i come?'' asked wildkit. ''if its alright with your mother.'' ''she'll be fine.'' snowfoot noded as she plucked the two kits up then carryed them over to the fresh kill pile. ''this vole looks good enough.'' she mewed. raventail, silverclaw, toadfoot, and bloodstorm all returned with bloody paws. ''what happened raventail?'' asked snowfoot, nudging his chest. ''there was this adder!'' ''an adder! but those marks don't look like them.'' snowfoot meowed. ''no! no! im not finished! when we got closer we've noticed that it wasn't an adder, but a darkclan warrior! he was slender and he had long fangs and his eyes! and that tail! i sware to you it was unlike any other cat that i've seen!'' he exclaimed to her. ''but we've manage to keep him off of our territory.'' silverclaw interupted. ''he seems to be one of their youngest warriors!'' said bloodstorm, his eyes wide. ''indeed. but if he returns, our warriors will be ready!'' said toadfoot. phoenixkit couldn't help but listen. who was this strange warrior that they were refurring to? how dangerous was he? whatever it was, phoenixkit wanted to find out. wildkit carryed a small plump mouse in her jaws then stalked back over to her mom. ''go to featherwhisker, raventail.'' said snowfoot. ''okay, these wounds look pretty deep.'' she nodded as he padded his way over to featherwhisker's den.

every moon, phoenixkit grew faster, bigger, smarter, clever, tougher. finally, the day finally came. he was ready to become a apprentice! phoenixkit awoke. yellowkit was next to him. oakkit and hawkkit slept with their mothers. wildkit slept on top of her mother's warm pelt. silverkit curled next to his mother wolfpelt. phoenixkit stretched his legs then shook yellowkit. ''wake up yellowkit!'' he mewed. ''huh?! wha-what?'' she yawned. ''what is it phoenixkit?'' yellowkit muttered, her brown eyes glimmering. ''TODAY'S THE DAY! WE'RE BECOMING APPRENTECES!'' phoenixkit meowed, his fur bristeling with excitment. ''are you serious?'' ''YES!'' wildkit's eyes shot open. ''yes! i've been dieing for this day!'' ''so am i!'' spat silverkit. ''come on guys!'' phoenixkit protested. phoenixkit trailed out of the den along with the others. he noticed flamestar sitting on the high rock. toadfoot sat next to him. ''I WOULD LIKE TO ANNOUCE THAT WE'VE GAINED NEW APPRENTECES!'' he began. ''oakkit, you will now be known as...oakpaw! your mentor will be...mousefang!'' flamestar took a deep breath. ''hawkkit you will now be known as...hawkpaw! your mentor will be...bloodstorm!'' he continued. ''silverkit, you will now be known as...silverpaw! your mentor will be...swiftfoot!'' toadfoot smiled. ''wildkit you will now be known as...wildpaw! your mentor will be...bluemoon!'' ''YAY!'' ''yellowkit, you will now be known as...yellowpaw! your mentor will be...silverclaw!'' he flicked his tail. ''and finally you, phoenixkit.'' smiled flamestar. ''im giving you a special oprtunity...phoenixkit you will now be known as...phoenixpaw! your mentor will be....raventail!'' phoenixpaw's ear twitched. raventail, as my mentor? what an honor! ''all of you will be fine apprenteces. good luck with your training....that is all..'' flamestar lept off the highrock. toadfoot pelted behind him. ''raventail? your my mentor?'' asked phoenixpaw. ''sure looks like it...'' he mewed. phoenixpaw's whisker twitched in agreement. ''we'll star by hunting.'' he smiled at him.

''pffffffffft! flamestar!'' called featherwhisker, peaking out of the den. ''yes?'' he asked, padding over. ''come in! i got to tell you something! its a message from starclan i've recieved.'' he told him. ''well, what is it then?'' flamestar ordered. ''a star will fall, but a new one will rise...'' he stood there. ''i bet it has something to do with phoenixpaw...don't you think flamestar?'' asked featherwhisker. ''yes,'' he finally said. raventail followed phoenixpaw through the ferns. phoenixpaw darted ahead of him. ''see that rabbit over there?'' ''yeah.'' ''catch it!'' mewed raventail. phoenixpaw nodded as he crouched down. he slowly stalked his way over to the dark-colored rabbit. his whiskers twitched. then he moved in closer, and closer, and closer until....SNAP! he killed the rabbit with his powerful fangs. ''i'll teach you skills of both your mother and father, and of course mine!'' said raventail as he trotted over to him. in the corner of his eye, phoenixpaw noticed a black snake tail peering through the bushes. ''lets go see what it is raventail! i bet this will be a great meal for the clan!'' ''um...phoenixpaw?....'' phoenixpaw had already bounded his way over to the snake. he bit it's tail. then a pair of orange eyes and red pupils glared at him coldly. he let go. a slender black cat lunged from the bushes. he landed on all four paws. he took a few steps back. ''hello there apprentece!'' he laughed coldly at him as he unleashed his claws. his long fangs were dripping with blood. ''adderclaw....'' whispered raventail. phoenixpaw tucked his ears back, his short fur bristeling. he hissed at the strange warrior who had approached him. adderclaw moved in closer and closer to him. ''im adderclaw, know me as your fear. and your blood!'' he warned him. phoenixpaw's spine chilled. what did he mean by that? his fear and blood? adderclaw lept through the brambles. along side him was a black appentece. ''adderclaw....'' phoenixpaw repeated. ''come, i'll teach you how to fight!'' raventail hissed.

phoenixpaw and raventail pelted their way over towards a large tree. ''see that hole.'' ''yes...'' said phoenixpaw. ''well, this is where we train all of the appreteces to fight! you're lucky to have me as your mentor since i've knew your parents!'' he lift his chin then trotted in. phoenixpaw stood their then trailed behind him. ''here we are,'' he told him as he sat down. phoenixpaw smiled at him as he prepared for his first lesson. ''when you're facing an opponent you must know their strenghs and weaknesses....you see, adderclaw is quite dangerous when you were facing him. but you didn't show any signs of backing down.'' his eyes grew wide. raventail continued, ''now, i'll teach you how to face him if he were to ever face you in a battle.'' ''is darkclan all dangerous?'' phoenixpaw asked, lashing his tail. raventail stood there for a moment. ''it depends on what kind of leader they have...'' raventail stalked behind him. ''this will be your first move...this is the attack that your mother did when she was alive. i'll teach you your dad's and mine. watch.'' he nodded, turning his head in raventail's direction. raventail prowled around him, hissing and spatting. his ears were tucked. he glared at him for a minute then lashed his claws at him. phoenixpaw callasped, then he rose back up. ''now you try.'' phoenixpaw stalked around raventail. he hissed at him. then lashed his claws. ''nicely done,'' praised raventail. ''now the attack that your father does when an enemy lunges behind him. jump.'' phoenixpaw lunged into the air, he outstretched his paws. raventail snapped his jaws onto him then pinned him down. ''your turn.'' raventail trotted over to a corner then lunged into the air. phoenixpaw did what he told him and pinned him down. ''good, now my move.'' raventail once again lunged into the air, he out stretched his paws once more then bit his neck in mid-air. ''now, you.'' phoenixpaw followed his steps. ''beautiful.'' the two fireclan wariors continued as they practice their training. adderclaw made his way back to darkclan. viperfang waited. ''im back.'' he hissed at them. gorseclaw snarled.

adderclaw made his way over to the fresh kill pile. ''hmm...any adders?'' he asked. ''yeah. look!'' said viperfang, flicking her tail at the bottom. ''and they're always at the bottom...i may be new, but my fresh kill deserves to be at the top!'' he spat, plucking a large adder then stalked his way over towards the warriors' den. gorseclaw narrowed his eyes. ''so, did you tell him?'' asked deadfoot. ''who? that apprentece?'' ''well did you tell him about you being his-'' before he could finish his sentence, gorseclaw interupted them. ''DON'T YOU DARE MENTION THAT SHE- CAT!'' ''why?'' mewed adderclaw, smiling coldly at him. ''because...his mother brakenface was a traitor. if darkstar or i ever hear any of you say that name...you'll be crushed and you'll be turned into crowfood.'' he warned them. ''well, i'd be willing to kill my brother.'' ''you mean like, killing the prophecy cat? phoenixpaw?'' he nodded. ''and i'll take blackpaw with me! think about it?'' sneered adderclaw. ''yes...i like it...you still carry venomblaze's blood.'' adderclaw's whiskers twitched in agreement. ''oof. ouch. ow!'' meowed phoenixpaw as he slowly padded out of the old tree. ''that was really fun!'' raventail nodded. ''you see, phoenixpaw. there is a code that you must follow in order to survive out here.'' he began. ''a code? what's the code?'' ''its the warrior code.'' raventail continued. ADDERCLAW! that's right! and we are alike in many ways... said adderclaw, lashing his snake-like tail. phoenixpaw's legs shook. NO! ''no. but we've noticed a couple of darkclan warriors running about.'' silverclaw reported. bloodstorm bared his teeth. ''darkclan!'' he muttered under his breath. ''and what about adderclaw?'' he added, lashing his tail impatiently. ''we've noticed a couple of blood stains. and bloody pawprints. they seem to match his.'' said bluemoon. ''that is all i need to know.'' said flamestar. ''you may return to your apprenteces.'' ''well, here's how it goes...i found myself in a dark forest....all alone. the moon was full, sky black and wind chilled through my spine. i was searching for a way out but...it was all dark then out of no where a massive dark tabby attacked me...along with a slender black warrior...they called themselves...gorseclaw and adderclaw....'' there was a long silence. oakpaw and hawkpaw stared at eachother. phoenixpaw could smell their fear scent. he continued, ''then, suddenly adderclaw attacked me...i was scared...i didn't know what to do...gorseclaw gave me a cold look, like...like...'' he paused then took a deep breath. ''anyways, adderclaw attacked me. i ached in pain...then, suddenly i heard painfull mews. but at first i thought that they were my parents...'' his words stumbled. their fear scent was getting stronger ech time he'd spoke. ''and well....i've seen dead wariors, not just any warriors but....fireclan warriors....'' he dipped his head down. ''i nearly died and, that's when i've woke.'' oakpaw stood up. ''yeah right! you're lieing!'' he lied. ''shut up oakpaw!'' murmured hawkpaw in his ear. ''you know that we're scared.'' ''impossible!'' spat mousefang.
