I consider this story finished although I might add on to it later.

This is a story about Leopardshadow, my dragon in Sapphire's dragon RP. I'm making a story about her because her character and appearance didn't explain much about her past.

In sapphire's rp, leopardshadow is in the Silver Claw, a group of kaii dragons, that are striped. Leopardshadow is unusually spotted.

Leopardshadow is a small, slender female leopard dragon. She has golden scales and black spots surrounding her body. Her wings are large and jet-black. She has a brown underbelly and golden horns. Her eyes are soft, gray.

The indigo sky stretched over the misty forest, holding in the nights chill. The heather stirred, but nothing else moved. In the deepest part of this misty forest, sat a dragon. She was beautiful. Her huge wings draped over her body, her scales shone in the shadows, her ivory fang glistened. The only thing unusual about this dragon was that she was ... spotted. Entirely spotted. Her scales were a deep golden color that seemed to shine in the darkness and black spots surrounded her body. She dipped her head down to a small egg. The egg was light brown, with very pale black spots. "You'll make a fine warrior", she whispered. A purr rumbled in her belly. Little did this dragin know that another was watching her. It laid in the shadows, it's eyes bright and shining. Without warninig, it struke. The spotted dragon was startled. She sprang in front of her egg, snarling viciously. The other dragon came out of it's hiding place too, hissing. It was a kai dragon, red, with jet-black stripes. "What do you want?", the spotted dragon snarled. The striped dragon whipped her head around to turn at her. "After tonight the Leopard dragons shall be nothing but a myth, Goldenshine!". Goldenshine was furious, she spat a tongue of yellow fire. The striped dragon avoided her with a hiss of laugh. It leapt forward and barreled Goldenshine over. "Why do you do this, Redheart?", Goldenshine asked the striped dragon. Redheart sneered and bit into the dragon's throat, killing her. Redheart wiped the blood from her muzzle with her forked tongue and turned to look at the spotted egg. "Now, I shall kill you!", she roared. Redheart took the egg in her claws and took to the skies, leaving behind the bloody mess she left behind.

As Redheart flew back to the Kais she didn't notice that the egg was cracking. The spotted dragon pecked at the the egg, sending a piece of the shell flying. She carried it to a cliff and held the egg out to drop it. She sneered at it. Right when she was going to let it go, Sunscales, another kai dragon, and Redheart's mate flew into her. Rdheart dropped the egg. "What are you doing?", she snarled at her mate. The bright orange kai dragon snarled. "What are you doing with that egg?". "Its a leopard dragon!", she replied. "I'm killing it", she said smudgly. Sunscales blocked her way. "Absolutely not!", he hissed. Redheart bared her teeth and set the egg on the ground. She had no right to argue with her mate. "But think of what can happen! We can make our race bigger!", Redheart moaned. Sunscales shook his head. "We are taking that egg back with us, now!', he ordered. She glared at him with her black eyes. "Fine", she hissed. "But your going to help take care of it", she pointed at the egg. "Relax!", Sunscales hissed. He paused. "Besides, she could be a good friend for Kobolt". They both took off, Sunscales holding the egg tightly in his grasp.

Back in the Kai nursery, Redheart and Sunscales sat, watching the spotted egg crack. Kobolt, their son, a red striped dragon, was watching the egg with pride, as if it were his own. "Don't be too rough!", Redheart hissed at Kobolt. "She won't be ready to play for a while yet". Kobolt rolled his eyes. "I know mother!", he boasted. Suddenly, the egg spit open. Kobolt's green eyes widened. The dragon was a beatiful dragon, spotted like her mother, with dark orange scales and black spots. Her wings were unusually large and jet-black. She stared at everyone, her gray eyes blinking in the sunlight. "Even Redheart was taken aback by the spotted dragon. Kobolt sniffed it. "What are you gonna call it?", he asked Redheart. She snorted. "I'm not naming it!", she snarled. Sunscales hissed at her. "Than at least help us think of one!". Sunscales paused. "How about Leopardshadow?", he asked. Kobolt smiled. "Cool name!". Redheart just snorted. "Fine". "Lighten up mother, won't you?", Kobolt growled. Leopardshadow held her gray gaze on Kobolt. Kobolt blushed. "Hi", he whispered. Leopardshadow sniffed him and reached out to lick his snout with her forked tongue. Kobolt wrinkled his nose. "I think she likes you Kobolt", Redheart laughed. Sunscales smiled at her attept to try and be nice. "Ko-bo-lt", Leopardshadow mouthed.

5 weeks later ...

"Watch out!", Kobolt yelled as he sprayed leaves into Leopardshadow's face. They were competing on who could skid father through the leaves. It was leaf-fall and the leaves were coming down from the emerald-green trees. "Kobolt! Don't hurt her!", Redheart snarled, watching them play. "Don't worry Redheart! He can't hurt me!', Leopardshadow boasted. "Oh yeah!", Kobolt curling his lip in a smile. He barreled into Leopardshadow and they both writhed around in the grass, claws sheathed. Leopardshadow like Kobolt. He was good-humored and easy-going, but serious when he needed to be. Kobolt had Leopardshadow pinned down and placed his paw over her spotted chest. "Got you!", he taunted. Leopardshadow smirked and slipped free of Kobolt's grasp, slippery as a snake and aimed a blow on his leg, unbalencing him. "Got you!", she sniggered. Kobolt stared at her, his gaze filled with compassion and trust for his new friend. He new he and Leopardshadow weren't related, he just though of her as a friend and he knew she thought the same way of him. "Enough play you two!", snarled a wiry brown Kai dragon that passed them. Kobolt stood over Leopardshadow, defending her. "Relax!", he reassured him. "Were not in the way of anyon-", Kobolt stammered, but was interrupted by an angry hiss from Redheart. "Kobolt! Don't argue with Ivytail!". Ivytail shot him and Leopardshadow a glare and stalked forward, looking over his shoulder. Leopardshadow hissed in annoyance. "He's so grumpy", she muttered to Kobolt. Kobolt nodded in agreement. Dusk was setting over camp. "TIme to sleep you two!", Sunscales called to both of them. Kobolt rolled his eyes and raced into the den, Leopardshadow at his heels. She settled down beside Kobolt. His long striped tail ran over her nose as they slept.

Leopardshadow's dreams were filled with fog. What is this place? I can barely see. Suddenly, a large dragon raced torward her and she jumped awake. It was early morning and frost glittered on the leaves. Kobolt and Redheart were gone and she missed the warmth that they gave her. Sunscales was asleep at the entrance of the den when he jolted awake. "Awake already?", he asked Leopardshadow. "I guess", she replied. "You may go outside if you'd like. Some dragons are out hunting. They might bring warm prey." Leopardshadow wandered outside, aware of the wary glances from other striped dragons. Are they treating me different because I'm spotted? Kobolt and Redheart raced into the clearing followed by Ivytail and Rowanclaw, an orange dragon. Kobolt ran into Leopardshadow, a large rabbit dangling from his jaws. "Look!", he beamed. "I caught it all by myself!". "Mother says its as big as me!". "Nice!", Leopardshadow commented. He tore it apart, sending some blood flying onto Leopardshadow's muzzle and broke off a piece. "Want to share?", he asked. "Sure!". Why does Kobolt look like he's hiding something?

kolbolt and leapordshadow had been friends since the day they were young! bloodfang always keeps an eye on them!

Redheart raced off to Bloodfang's den. "Is something troubling her?", Leopardshadow asked Kobolt. "I don't know", he replied. "Some help", she laughed. "She's probably just reporting what she saw".
Redheart pushed her wat into Bloodfang's den. "Bloodfang!", she panted. "Yes?", he asked. "I-I have some rather disturbing news", she reported. "Disturbing?", Bloodfang asked, his red eyes wide with confusion. "Theres a dead Black Clan dragon on our territory!", Redheart blurted out. "What?!", Bloodfang roared. "They never come this far!" Bloodfang narrowed his eyes. "What was it doing here anyways?", he snarled. "I don't know, but it had badlands pack scent on it", she growled. "Ah-those fools!" Bloodfang roared. "Did you dispose of the dead dragon?", he asked. "Yes sir", Redheart said. "Very well, you may go", he ordered. She stalked out of the den. "Wait, Redheart?", Bloodfang asked. "Yes?", Redheart said, eyes narrowed. "How's the leopard dragon?", he whispered. "She's fine, why?", Redheart asked. "Just wondering", he lied. Redheart nodded and walked out of the den.

Kobolt stiffled another yawn. Redheart had told him and Leopardshadow that from now on they needed to hunt with an adult. "Wonder why they won't let us go out to hunt anymore?", he asked. "They probably just want to keep us safe." she guessed. "Well I don't like it." he growled. "Since you've never been out of camp before, how 'bout I show you?", he whispered to her. Please say yes!"Okay", she whispered back. "Do you know a way out of camp?". "Of course!", Kobolt snorted. "Follow me". He sneaked off towards the southern part of camp and pushed his way through the heather. "Come on." Kobolt whispered to Leopardshadow. "Coming!", she hissed. Kobolt sprayed a pawful of mud on her. "What was that for?", she snarled. "Shh!", Kobolt growled. "It will disguise your scent if any other dragons are hunting. Leopardshadow narrowed her soft gray eyes, but said nothing. Kobolt stalked forward, keeping as low to the ground as he could. He cast occasional glances back at Leopardshadow to see if she was coming but Leopardshadow was too busy scanning the forest. What am I getting her into?

awww! poor leapordshadow! when kolbolt is older he starts cussing more! LOLZ! and you got bloodfang's eyes color right!

Leopardshadow looked around. The beautiful forest was pure green, tinged with glittering white frost that hung on the leaves. A mouse darted out of the crack and leapt for it, only to miss it and land head first on her head. Kobolt let out a laugh. "almost got it!", leopardshadow snarled. "I'll help you", Kobolt promised. He pointed with his tail at a tree. "Stay perfectly still and wait for something to come, then pounce", Kobolt told her. Leopardshadow crept over to the roots of the tree, staying perfectly silent. Her tail was held straight out so it wouldn't brush the leaves. She kept her eyes focused on the ground. Suddenly a small mouse crept out of it's hole. Leopardshadow smiled, showing her teeth. Her spotted scales blended in well with the ground. She pounced and felt blood on her jaws. She had caught the mouse! "Nice!", Kobolt complimented her. A move startled them. "Shh, hide!", Kobolt whispered with alarm. They both ducked under a bush. Leopardshadow slinked back further, for she knew her spotted scales would show better in darkness than kobolt's striped scales. Two Kai dragons walked by them, unaware.

Kobolt shrinked back by Leopardshadow. His tail swished over some bracken, making a noise. One of the dragons whipped his head around, staring at the bush. "What is it, Oakheart?", said the other dragon. Oakheart still stared at the bush. "N-Nothing, Darkflower", Oakheart stammered. "I thought I heard something". "Well, lets go!", Darkflower growled. Oakheart rolled his eyes and they disappeared. Leopardshadow glared at him. "You almost got us caught!", she whispered. "I don't think almost is the way to describe it", an unknown voice hissed. Kobolt and Leopardshadow jumped out of the bush and saw Sunscales glaring at them with his blue eyes narrowed. Leopardshadow was speechless. "D-Dad we-we were j-just.", Kobolt stammered "Disobeying the rules!", Sunscales interrupted. "Your coming back to camp with me, NOW!", he ordered. Kobolt and Leopardshadow bot slunk behind him, their tails drooping. "Think what Bloodfang will say!", Sunscales muttered to himself. Kobolt let out a small hiss. What will Bloodfang say?, Leopardshadow thought.

Sunscales led the two torward Bloodfang's den. Kobolt avoided his father's gaze, his red-brown eyes were narrowed. "Go on!!", Sunscales roared. Leopardshadow and Kobolt pushed their way through the bramble screens that led to Bloodfang's den. "Kobolt, Leopardshadow, what are you doing here?", he asked with narrowed blood-red eyes. Kobolt looked at his father. Sunscales nodded. Kobolt sighed. "Me and Leopardshadow snuck off without any adul-". "What?!", Bloodfang roared then settled down. "Why did you?", he asked in a soft voice. "We just wanted to see what lies beyond", Leopardshadow explained. "I see", Bloodfang slightly chuckled. Is that amusement in his voice? Kobolt's dark eyes widened. "At least give them some punishment", Sunscales spat. "Of course. You and Leopardshadow will be confined to camp for two days", Bloodafng demanded. Kobolt wanted to snarl. Its not fair! He looked at Leopardshadow and saw that she was furious too. "Very well", she sighed and walked out of the den. "Come on Kobolt", she laughed. Kobolt didn't realize he was so furious that his black wings were outstretched and his tail was sticking straight up. He blushed, embarresed, then raced out of the den. Leopardshadow followed, laughing.

Leopardshadow followed Kobolt. She leapt up in the air to pounce on him, but realized she was half gliding, half falling. Kobolt stood speechless but let out a burst of laughter when she fell face first. "You won't be laughing when I'll be the best flyer in Silver Claw!", she hissed. "Mabye, but you won't be laughing when I turn out to be the best hunter in Silver Claw!". She darted toward him and leapt on him, bowling him over. The two dragons play fighted for a while. When they got bored hthe settled down besides each other, grooming their wings. "I have bigger wings than you do!", Leopardshadow laughed. Kobolt cuffed her on the ear. "Wheres Sunscales?", Kobolt asked. "Probably out telling Redheart what we did", Leopardshadow guessed. Everyone in camp seemed tense. All the dragons looked wary of each other, as if they were afraid of something. Bloodfang scanned the clearing with a suspicious glance. A huge roar stunned everyone. "What was that?", Kobolt yelled. Leopardshadow looked around and saw that everyone was looking to the skies. A huge black army was diving down torwards the Silver Claw, led by Darkuss. Silver Claw is under attack!

"Silver Claw is under attack!", yelled Flametail, a blood-red kai dragon. Dragons started streaming everywhere. Bloodfang rushed out of his den. Hundreds of Dark Army dragons started spiraling down from the sky, carrying weopons of all sorts. Leopardshadow bunched together with Kobolt, her gray eyes wide with fear. Darkuss, the Dark Army leader landed and began attacking while others landed as well. Leopardshadow could hear the blood roaring in her ears. Redheart streamed towards them. "Run, quick-", A burly black dragon knocked her away sending her flying. "Mother!"< Kobolt screeched. Redheart got up and lunged at the dragon. "Come on you two!", Sunscales roared as he nudged them torward the bracken. "Get away from here!", he told them. "Until the battle is over you will hide here." "Pretty bad hiding place", rasped another dragon. "Who's that?", Kobolt growled. A large dark purple dragon stalked toward them, his menacing red eyes wide with ambition. "Malefor!", snarled Sunscales. He looked at Sunscales. "Silver Claw must DIE!", he roared and lunged at Sunscales, slapping him down with a big purple paw. Sunscales collapsed on the ground, pretending to go limp. Leoaprdshadow and Kobolt stayed hidden in the bracken. Whats Sunscales doing?, Kobolt thought. Malefor let his shoulders relax as he walked up to Sunscales. He bent his head down to sniff him when suddenly Sunscale's blue eye darted open and he lunged at Malefor's throat, tearing through it. Malefor collapsed on Sunscales. Amazingly, the dark dragon pushed himself up with a smirk. "You are clever." he sneered at Sunscales. He spat up clots of blood onto the rock. Sunscales stood his ground. Malefor stalked around him. "Come on!", he taunted. Sunscales watched him. Sunscales's eyes grew a bright yellow and his claws seemed to grow slightly larger. Wow, Kai dragons really get wild in a battle frenzy, Leopardshadow thought. Without warning, Malefor lunged at Sunscales, claws outstretched. He ripped through his body, spraying blood all over the grass. Leopardshadow felt Kobolt's whole body tense up as he stiffined with anger. Malefor stood over Sunscales. "Your weaker than I though", he sneered. Kobolt suppresed a loud snarl. Malefor whipped his head around. Please don't see us!!

poor kais! good thing they have their special attck!

Malefor stalked torward them. "Kobolt what do we do?", Leopardshadow hissed. "Just stay close to me", he told her. Malefor dipped his head to sniff the grass when Kobolt lunged out and raked his claws over Malefor's muzzle. Blood sprayed out. "Ahh!", malefor yowled. "Run!", Kobolt snarled. Leopardshadow took off beside Kobolt. "Demonshadow, Darknest, after them!", Malefor ordered. Two sleek dragons ran after Leopardshadow and Kobolt. "They're gaining on us!", Kobolt yelled. Leopardshadow closed her eyes and let strength run through her. Suddenly, her stride was faster and her blood felt electric. She sprinted past Kobolt, her spotted figure a blurr. "Hey wait for me!", Kobolt yowled. He tried to sprint faster, but he tripped on a rabbit hole and fell over. Leopardshadow looked back and felt a cold weight in her belly when she saw the two dragons racing torwards Kobolt, their teeth gleaming. Kobolt laid there, his eyes wide with fear as one of the dragons prepared to jump on him. Leopardshadow's gray eyes grew with cold fury and she ran torward them, enraged to the maximum. Her mouth opened to yowl, but she felt a certain heat run through it. Yellow flames lickered at her mouth and she unleashed it, burning their faces. They yowled in pain, their faces scorched black. They ran away. Kobolt stared in disbelief. What am I?

Kobolt stared in amazement. "What was that?." he exclaimed. Leopardshadow stood panting, her jaws gapped open, she was speechless. "Leopardshadow?", Kobolt asked again with concern. She didn't reply. She stood frozen, her gray eyes wide and her wings outstretched. "Leopardshadow!", Kobolt yelled. Suddenly Leopardshadow's vision became blurred and turned to black as she passed out. She could still here Kobolt's voice, filled with fear and concern for his friend. Her limbs felt heavy and her whole body felt numb as everything went black ...

Leopardshadow opened her eyes and found herself lying on a dark, grassy clearing, gleaming with starlight. Where am I? Is this a dream? "H-Hello?", she growled. A shadow of a dragon slowly approached her. "Hello?", Leopardshadow growled again. The dragon said nothing, just walked torward her. When she opened her eyes she saw the glowing figure of Sunscales. His scales glowed like fire in the misty strashined forest. "Sunscales?", she whispered. "Shh", he whispered and settled down beside her. "Am-Am I dead?", Leopardshadow asked him. "Are you dead?", she asked again. He sighed. "I am but your not. You are safe with Redheart and Kobolt", Sunscales reassured her. Leopardshadow looked up at him. "What happened to me?", she asked. "You learned the [ower that few dragons have." Sunscales explained. "Fire?", Leopardshadow asked. "Yellow fire", he corrected her. She sighed and a minutes silence swept over them. "What am I?", she blurted out. Sunscales said nothing. "That is for you to figure out", he growled. "Dear one there are great changes ahead, but you will overcome them as you will overcome this." he whipsered. Leopardshadow looked shocked. What did Sunscales mean? Suddenly she felt a pulsing pain run through her and felt comforted when Sunscale's nuzzled her. It felt as if Sunscale's presence lighten the mood and pain. She closed her eyes, letting sleep overtake her once more ....

"Leopardshadow?" "Leopardshadow?". She could hear scared voices calling her. Her soft gray eyes opened only to find herself in Redheart's den with Kobolt inches away from her face. "W-what happened?", Leopardshadow stammered. "You passed out! Are you okay?", Kobolt yelled. "I-I'm fine." Leopardshadow grumbled. "I was really worried about you." Kobolt admitted. Leopardshadow smiled but she saw that Kobolt's gaze was also filled with sadness. She reached out to brush her snout to Kobolt's. "Sunscales?", she asked. "H-He's dead." Kobolt wailed. "Mother went to bury him". Kobolt buried his face in his paws. Leopardshadow stretched out to lick his cheek. Kobolt looked up at her with confusion. "I'm so sorry." Leopardshadow whispered. She sighed. "I know I'm not related to you, b-but Sunscales was like a father to me too." Kobolt looked up at her and smiled, his dark gaze burning into Leopardshadow. Redheart pushed her way into the den, looking down and saying nothing. "R-Redheart I'm sorry." Leopardshadow whispered. She sighed. "He was a great dragon." Redheart murmered. Kobolt crawled over to his mother to comfort her. Redheart shed a small tear. Her gaze swept over leopardshadow with some confusing emotion. Is she hiding something?

kolbolt: i remember that day!

Kobolt looked at Leopardshadow. I'm so glad she's okay... "Did you actually spit fire out of your mouth?", Kobolt whispered. "I-I think so." Leopardshadow replied. "Whats this about fire?", Redheart muttered. Kobolt remembered everything, the yellow flames that flew out of Leopardshadow's mouth and then her passing out. It nearly scared him to death. "Leopardshadow breathed fire. Yellow fire", Kobolt blurted out. Redheart looked as if she was pondering about something a long time ago. Kobolt's dark eyes narrowed. "Why can't I breath fire?", Kobolt complained. "Kai dragons aren't able to breath fire." Redheart muttered. "They have their own specialties." "Yellow fire are the leopard dragon's special ability." Redheart hissed. How come she knows so much about Leopard Dragons? Has she been spying on them "How is the damage on camp and dragons?", Leopardshadow asked. Redheart sighed. "A few dragons killed but nothing serious damage on camp". Leopardshadow heaved a sigh of relief. Kobolt felt slightly jeolous of Leopardshadow but he also felt something else when he looked at her spotted scales and her dark gray eyes. He looked at his mom and saw that she was sleeping, clearly suffering from shock. "Rest Leopardshadow" Kobolt whispered. Leopardshadow smiled and laid down, tucking her paws over her chest. "Do you need any herbs?", Leopardshadow asked. "I'm fine, thanks. Just a large scratch on my leg, nothing that serious. He showed her a large scar on one of his stripes, dry with crusted blood. Kobolt, watching her with every movement he made, laid down besides Leopardshadow, who was now asleep. He was still shocked about the loss of his father, but it was lost in his mind when he remembered dark gray eyes and a soft voice asking if he needed herbs.
