This is fantastic news. Good luck to every homosexual getting married with this news.

Though I can't wait to see the reactions from homophobes across the country.

My hometown has this column in our newspaper where people can call in and state their opinions about current issues. It's mostly been just mindless Obamaphobia, so I'm already excited for what's coming next.

Well it was a 5-4 decision. And I'm already expecting certain state legislatures to look for loopholes and pass laws that won't recognize same-sex marriage on the basis of those loopholes. Or for someone to challenge the ruling in a lower court. It's already happened with the Affordable Care Act.

Regardless, it'll be interesting to see if the Republican presidential field continues to harp on this, because doing so will basically be saying, "Yes, as a president I will not respect the decision of the highest body of our judicial branch and use executive and legislative mandates to circumvent them." Which is a problem in that it A) contradicts the conservative viewpoint of "small federal government," and B) sets off all my conspiracy alerts. XP

This is awesome. I'm glad that the USA has finally come to realise that people are people no matter who they love (except Obama, Obama is a lizard).

But like HIR said, I can't see all the states co-operating so nicely with this without any strings attached.

The only loophole I can think of is individual ministers refusing to officiate same-sex wedding ceremonies. And that's not even a big deal, there are plenty that would either way.

But still, I think you're right. We'll just have to wait and see.

This isn't a loophole. Individual churches are still allowed to decide who they will and won't marry. It's just that states aren't allowed to ignore gay marriages anymore and are now legally forced to recognize them, even if they're from a different state.

This is good to hear, and today will certainly make history.

I'll admit I'm not fond of the religious aspect of the right wing. We need to stop passing legislation based on how people think the invisible (and nonexistent) man in the sky will react.

Because, y'know, let's make this worse.

Did you really have to start this? You have to know that phrasing it like this can only hurt.

Except that opinion was expressed in a way that basically said "I'm right, end of story," instead of respecting others' beliefs.

I'm not saying I agree with what Mrmorrises said, 'cause it was pretty uncalled for, but it's funny how you call people out in another topic for calling someone else out for phrasing something rudely but then go ahead and do the same thing here.

Except that Ryanator was expressing his own belief at the topic at hand (a little strongly, but still) without attacking anything else. This, like I said above, really is putting down others' beliefs while also bringing in an argument that is only tangential to the topic at hand, not directly related to it.

To be fair, Ryanator wasn't being very respectful either, but you still backed him up.

I just read Ryanator's comment, maybe I'm being biased, but I think it's a hell of a lot more insensitive. Especially considering his insensitivity was manifested in the entire post, where as the point of what I posted was not that God isn't real, it's that I think that the right wing is too passionate about their religious beliefs being brought into politics.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: darkSpyro users are a profound paradox of hypocrisy. They're the real-life losers who are so happy because now they finally get to be the big bullies they always feared. They will gladly lash out at anyone who doesn't fit their profile of an ideal user's identity in the most stereotypically liberal fashion ever. And I'm a liberal myself, so you know it's bad if I'm saying that.

Once again, I sincerely hope you're proud of yourselves.
