Before I start this thread I just wanna say I'm not interested in discussing wether it actually will end, and I'd prefer that discussion would go in another new topic like Possibility of The Franchise Ending or something.

Anyway, I remember we had a topic like this a long while ago. But with the announcement that PVP is gone, would your opinion on this change?

I wouldn't care much at this point. It'd be disappointing to see one of the series I consistently enjoyed going away, but I would have been more upset if it died before. My family and I almost exclusively played PVP when we played together, and it's a huge part of what made them like the series. Skylanders was one of the few games we all knew how to and played together. Now we won't all be looking forward to battling eachother because there's no PVP in TT. There's a possibility PVP will return in Sky5 (I'd actually be more surprised if it didn't), but for now I'm not getting my hopes up.

If for whatever reason Skylanders 4 is the last game (which is very unlikely), then it sucks and I would be disappointed, there's so much more to do with the Toys to Life and gimmicks it can bring. I predict the series will end at a point where I will be less excited about it so I will not care too much, but it will feel like a part of my life is over.

one of the main things i would be disappointed about if skylanders ended would be missing out playing the newest version with my son while is is "relevant" for him. He is 2 in october, and is starting to notice the characters and what animal they are based on (his favourites are Terrafin the shark or Grilla Drilla the monkey) but its going to be a couple of years till he is able to enjoy the huge mass of character figures that i'm amassing "for him"

sure nothing is stopping us playing SSA, Giants SF, TT etc even if the series finishes, but it won't be the same for me really, SSA is already painful to play, seems old and out of date for me already.

i'm talking more about him and his school friends talking about the new game, getting excited for it and then, boom, Dad has a couple of hundred extra character figures that no one at school has even heard of before for him to use in the game as well. hahaha.

apart from that, there will be many things that fill both the figure collecting and the video gaming void for me, there is always a line of toys or figures that i decide to pass on because i would prefer Skylanders and DI.
With such a back catalogue of skylanders figures available, i would be really surprised if someone didn't buy the rights to the franchise from Activision/TFB/VV and do their own thing with it.

I wouldn't mind if it ended because I could always play all the old Skylanders games anyways. I see Trap Team is a perfect way to end the series you capture all the villains in Skylands and Skylands is safe once again! But, they have to release every Skylanders for Trap Team in every country and the be done and if they're not done at least wait a couple of years.

^ You just made me remember something I forgot to mention: I hope at least all the characters are made available before the series ends.

If Activision's half-hearted attempt at a comic (Sorry, I say that on the barely professional level artwork i've seen) actually gets some steam, or they actually move forward with their whole movie studio idea and we see Skylander's cartoons/movies, I'd be more inclined to be upset. I really enjoy the world that has been setup in the games. I would hate to see if come and go in such a short time frame. I was a kid though through the 80s and the 90s. I have seen many toy lines go the way of the dodo. Without the franchise getting into the "bigger picture" with other media I'll just chalk it up to another fad that was enjoyable for the time it had. I'd happily finish out my collection with getting Trap Team, so that I could sell all 200 some off figures for $30, twenty years from now.

To me Skylanders is literally the only thing that means anything deeply to me as of now. The best way I can describe how I'd feel is the ending from Toy Story 3 and ending in a pit of eternal loneliness forever.

at this point i am okay with it if it ends. they cant just keep on adding gimmicks, they will eventually corner them self anyway.

It is one of my favorite games, at the moment, and, whether you like it or not, it looks and feels more like a Spyro game than any of the "Legend of Spyro" chapters.

I just love his colorful and comical mood (even if a little bit more of seriousness would be appreciated), and would miss all the diversity and uniqueness of the characters.

*moreover, I would NEVER forgive TfB, if they'd never release a sand-based Skylander...*

I could accept that. This may end up being the last run for me regardless. One of the family skylander players is going to start middle school next year, and hence, he may suddenly be too cool for the game. The other kid player is less about the game and more about the fact that the family does it together, so she'll probably be fine with it going away. As well, my collection gene and wallet will be happy that we can be complete and done. A part of me feels like we should be moving on.

It would be missed for sure, and many great memories, but it's likely to start feeling like we're living in the past.

I honestly think Trap Team would be a good stopping point.

Eh, I would be pretty annoyed overall, but I have a feeling that it'll be around for a while.

This is one of the few game series' that I'm deeply into. I know that the chance of a new Crash Bandicoot (my favorite series overall) sequel is incredibly slim, so I'll be left in the dust (unless I decide to go out and buy newer games, which, to be honest, is very boring compared to going out and buying newer Skylanders, which gives the feel of adventure).


While I think that Skylanders would benefit greatly through a movie, it's already pretty well recognized (at least in my area).

It'd be a bitter sweet moment for me if it closed. I wouldn't have to spend so much money, but I'd also lose the fun of hunting for all the figures and finally putting them on a portal. Sometimes I kinda want the series to end, but mostly I just wanna hunt for more figures !

Pro - I would be relieved if STT was the last Skylanders game ever made so that I won't be wasting anymore of my money. If they continue to produce new Skylanders games and figures, I'll go broke.

Con - My life would be totally meaningless and dull without any new Skylanders games and figures to play. Also, the story about Skylanders in video games would end too soon.

They are spending too much time on toys, and even the game itself feels gimmicky. I'd say we're almost there already.

How I'd feel? Much like my uncle passing away...glad for the good times we spent together, but also lamenting of the passing.

I would feel awful if the game ended. But, I do know that it'll be around for another couple years. If they can make over $2 billon on three games, and the fourth has more things to collect, then they'll be making hundreds of millions every year.

I can't wait for the day when my brother and the friends he'll make in the upcoming years play the game, and then see that this teenager has every character to play with. I can imagine them saying, "What's a Spyro? Who's Stealth Elf?" That will make my experience with the game have another meaning.

I would feel really bad if the series ends. But it likely wont be ending soon do to Skylanders being a cash mine for Activision/Toys For Bob

Kind of bummed if whatever story elements never get finished, but it had a good run unlike what some people say, and I'd enjoy it for the games it had. Hopefully that wouldn't get Spyro's IP stuck in franchise limbo along, though.

As for when it eventually does end, I'll be sad, yeah, but also happy cause I'll have a cool collection of figures that I've collected throughout the entirety of the series since the beginning.

I honestly hope they will end it ONLY when they'll drop forward compatibility.

That way, the final game (which will hopefully be amazing) will have tons of playable characters and will feel like a beautiful playground to test all the different Skylanders.

First, I'd go get my wallet from the morgue, then I'd probably be pretty sad. I really want this franchise to end because it's beginning to feel overly gimmicky and less fun with each game that we get. SSA was the best, Giants was fun but not very innovative, and swap force was a total bomb for me. Trap Team is the last hope I have in this franchise, and luckily it looks like a lot of fun and hopefully won't disappoint me like SF did. But trap team feels way too gimmicky already. The voice that says "Sheep Creep defeated." Or "Sheep Creep Trapped." Just feels like a big gimmick and a quick buck for acti. I love this franchise to death, but it's getting to the point where it's just too much, I'm going on 18 and I have to start worrying about paying for gas and my schoolwork over the newest skylanders figures. Maybe that's just me growing up, but trap team will definitely be my final chapter. Unless Skylanders 5 can bring back the dinosaurs, then I'm not likely to get it.

I would feel a little sad, since it's a series I've grown to like and enjoy. If it happens to end, it should end with a bang, and perhaps continue in the form of the comic books, a television series, or a movie.

I have a feeling that Skylanders 5 would be the last game. Maybe that's the game where the rest of the figures for the two new elements will be made.

I would be sad as Skylanders is a really creative series and it increased my intrest in video game design. Whenever the time comes, I bet writers will give the franchise a goog ending.

We will probably lose interest before the franchise ends . That will probably happen when they phase out the old SSA toys . They killed the SSA Adventure levels in Swopforce so i am wondering what is being phased out in TT .

As always, it depends of the selling lines.
If they arent't able to sell their stuff (utility of the sidekicks? ),
the development of the number 5 can easily be canceled even if it's 80% done for instance.

I wouldn't be hurt in the least. As others have said, my wallet would stop taking the beating it's been getting these last few years. The comparison of the posters of characters for the games just boggles the mind. Trap Team seems to be more of a money-grab with the amount of items to purchase.

I wonder if Skylanders is still pulling in the return-on-investment? Skylanders 5 could spark new/more interest with online play. That could revitalize the brand and stimulate sells.

How much are the unit sales of the actual game disc (starter pack)? I'm curious as to where the Skylanders games rank in sales versus other games (like Call of Duty or Mario Kart). It's the gimmicks and the excess figures that keep getting released every year that will kill Skylanders eventually, but I'm wondering if Activision can profit off just games sales. If they can sustain profit off the game only, it would be great to have a brand new Skylanders game with just new content to use your old figures with without having to run out to buy new figures and traps. I know it's wishful thinking, but production of new Skylanders games by Activision will most likely be stopped when figure sales start being unprofitable...but it would be great to the longevity of the franchise if they stopped with the annual gimmicks and just produced new game content on a disc that could measure up in sales to the big video games. Then even if Skylanders ranked anywhere in the top 25 games of the year in terms of sales, it would still be profitable enough to keep going.

Wallet would be relieved.......Dad would enjoy trip to Vegas. Season tix to Pittsburgh Penguins would come at a discount!

I would still play the other games and still try to accomplish goals like every Skylander at maximum Lv and still make Skylander videos for YouTube.
