I have to say though, Dreamcatcher's theme is creepy as heck. o.o
And the Skylanders Academy theme is what I heard at E3 in the Trap Team booth.

I like Know-It-All Island, and Rainfish Riviera reminds me of Cutthroat Carnival from Giants.

That's what I thought, wonder if there will be any references to cutthroat carnival in rainfish riviera. |

Wow, Rainfish Riviera really sounds like some sort of sequel song to Cutthroat Carnival.
Also, Dreamcather's theme doesn't sound like it'll be her summon theme or her boss theme, but actually from a cutscene or something. Whatever that is it's better than Mesmerelda's already.

This album is at least 15 minutes less than the last album and is even ~4 minutes shorter than the first two soundtracks.
Baffled. On the themes....his music has motifs that continue and expand on previous entries, so expect more "recycling" of music in this regard.

No amount of hate for Activision should make you think they'll recycle more than Swap Force did. For every new maybe good song, they had like 4 reused ones. Giants had all new except for some Heroic Challenges and parts of The Oracle, and even those got some new instruments. What makes this still unusual is that they insist on having few songs per release. People would buy this a LOT more if they sold the entire soundtrack in high quality or at least every single original track(though this time it'd be alright if they only included the best villain themes) ; doesn't help that some instruments don't make it to the main game like the choir in Slime Pipe/Slippery Tunnels in Giants and that not one of the final boss themes is on the OST.

For me, the first two soundtracks "spoke" to me. The songs SAID something, had a theme...even if he added a dash of a theme from another song he interwove them to make them sound unique yet part of the whole. Starting with Swap Force his music has tended to "wander aimlessly" and this seems similar.
I mean, the first 5 seconds of SSA music and you feel right at home. Same with Giants. I'm not being biased on purpose, that's just how the music spoke to me. I'll buy the soundtrack to support the artist, but I have to start thinking he's feeling boxed in with his compositions.

They could go waaaay creepier than that and still keep this as a kids' game. The scare chord from Cutthroat Carnival's final cutscene beats Dreamcatcher's Theme in surprise scary by a landslide. Now, why they have these themes might be too spooky...

Still love the SSA Crypt theme...you could blast that at Halloweeen and fit the mood very nicely. The creepier the better I say. They've cheesed out on the Undead element big time since SSA, both in terms of level and character design and music.

There weren't any Undead levels since SSA, aside from the Elemental Gates and the final levels of SF 3DS. Which MIGHT be understandable, because after that we had Mask of Power and extended bios which said that going into Underworld places without some help might as well cause PG-death. They must be waiting for a proper level to have the Underworld/Isle of the Undead/That place Moneybone owns be important again instead of making up reasons to go into the most dangerous areas of Skylands.

Don't know about that since I don't do 3DS, but having the environment being an actual terrifying place to be adds much needed suspense/fear. It seems to be comedy night in Skylands now.

SF console certainly seems to show that, biggest offender being Fantasm Forest having literally no ghosts or ghost-related things except for the Undead/Life and Undead elemental gates. For the final 3DS levels, if the LP I watched covered enough of it, the Party Town seems to follow the "got over being dead and decided to have fun" part that T-Bone implied in SSA. It's still a barren wasteland full of creepy imagery, but no one really seemed to be fazed at all.
But it could've been because, unlike the dungeon-y areas in SSA, it was populated with ghosts and not zombies. EDIT: And giving another look, by creepy imagery I mean really creepy, specially the River of Souls and parts of The Haunted Villa. The zombies and skeletons aren't visible population because they're part of the scenery, and still very much un-alive.

It's normal for this series which is a shame, actually. Every game's OST has some level themes missing, and this one is just the one that stands out since every villain will also have a theme. Really wish they actually released every single track on the OSTs, maybe then I'd actually buy it instead of just 10-15 tracks at most.

Really wish they'd release some that aren't avaliable for preview, for all of them. Really could use a clean version of the final boss themes, or even some of the original versions of battle arena themes, not just Slime Pipe (because by Eon, Sunrise Towers is just incredible but so short).

Well, maybe because the game's not out yet, and because the soundtracks not available for purchase yet, they're only showing off twelve of the who knows how many tracks in the game. Keep in mind we know there'll be eighteen levels, not counting Adventure Packs, a main hub, and every villain is getting it's own theme tune. So I doubt this is all there is. |

Well, we now might kind of now. The last song had the title wrong and is one of the Adventure Packs leaked the other day.Doubt they could just remove that one thing without screwing the whole listing up. But it is weird that it hasn't come out or was ever put back up even if the game is going to be released soon.

...It's okay Dreamcatcher's Theme. I didn't want to sleep tonight. EDIT: Sunscraper Spire is still Towers. Guess that it was removed for other reasons from Amazon, and if it's here it's not something on the OST itself.
