There are a ton of kids around 9 years old that know about multiple creepypastas at my school 0_O
There's this one kid that goes around pretending he's Laughing Jack.
This was started BEFORE I became interested in the creepypasta fandom as much as I am now.

That doesn't make them any less crazy, though.

Perhaps, but what these girls did is very comparable to a religious sacrifice or the like. They said it themselves:

"Weier told police that Slender Man is the 'leader' of Creepypasta, and in the hierarchy of that world, one must kill in order to show dedication."

"Weier said that Geyser told her they should become "proxies" of Slender Man — a paranormal figure known for his ability to create tendrils from his fingers and back — and kill their friend to prove themselves worthy of him."

In theory there is no difference between their beliefs of the supernatural and any other such beliefs that "command" to kill. The thing is, we know that Slenderman was made up in our lifetime, and we are able to find proof of it.

The parents are at work and the kids are at school.

And about the religion thing... There was a guy who killed in the name of God. Well he already ****ed up because one of the Ten Commandments was " You will not kill." So it's kinda hard to blame religion for that. But if there's a wacky religion out there that's pro murder then I don't know
