When I was little I thought it was the law for the elderly to live in retirement homes. My grandparents didn't, they had their own house. I just thought they were casually breaking the law.

And I thought that there was one person in every city who controlled all of the traffic lights in big room with a lot of computers.

I used to think that a monster lived in the TV screen. I couldn't stay in a room with a TV for long, and eventually my parents ended up covering the TV with a blanket when not in use.

• When I was SUPER little, I thought that there was a monster living in the oven. For some reason, I always imagined that this "monster" was a giant black cat with large, lime green eyes that I believed could stare into my soul and read my mind. I thought that if I was left in the kitchen by myself for too long, he would come out and do terrible things to me, like stuff me into my Mom's washing machine, which, as a kid, also scared the absolute living daylights out of me for some reason. It was the first thing that truly terrified me to the core.
  


• I also thought that the girl from The Exorcist would possess my family members, and was waiting for the right chance to turn them against me and have them murder me.
  


• When I was young, I also used to think that if I was really good all year, I would get a pet dinosaur or a Pokemon for Christmas.
  


• Finally, if I really wanted a toy, I would write letters to them and beg them to come and live with me.
  

The second one is super dark, though...

I used to think that the Tails Doll (yes, that stupid Sonic thing) was going to kill me, and I had so many sleepless nights because of that thing I wanted to stop liking Sonic entirely.

I once saw some old art of Sonic and friends as a zombie, and it scared me so much, I got completely out of Sonic for years.

Only now have I recently got back into it.

I thought I wanted to grow up

When I was really young I was scared to stand next to my bed because I thought a hand would come from underneath and grab my ankle.

When I was little, my Grandad used to talk gibberish to make me and my sisters laugh. I believed him when he said he was speaking Spanish.

I thought the world was flat, but had no end meaning that land and sea is unlimited.

Whenever I went to the beach, I thought there was treasure buried under the sand.

I used to think the attic had a hidden passage to a cave of wonders type treasure room.

When I was 4-5 years old, I thought Teletubby land actually existed and I wanted to live there so I didn't have to go to school.

My brother told me that he thought the exact same thing when he was younger just yesterday.

I used to think that Teletubbies were actual aliens and that I could be visited by them in a UFO.
I thought that when it was stormy and windy my house could fly up into the air in a tornado.
The last one I can remember is that I was scared if the Cbeebies yellow screen when the airing was finished. It said "See you at 6:00" meant that something bad was going to happen. Oh, and don't get me started about the night song that would repeat itself until the airing was finished. I thought that it would never end.

The way my mom told me about 911 was as far as I remember she probably elaborated somehow all she told me was that if she was sitting in this specific chair and happened to fall and hit her head on this line of bricks blocking off our garden and didn't get back up I was to call 911. So for like 2 years I thought that was the only time someone was supposed to call 911.

I thought the middle finger was a really hard thing to do. So in 1st grade, i raised my hand and said"Look at what i can do!" then i flipped off my class and my teacher.

I went around the class asking what the middle finger meant whilst flipping every single one of my classmates off until I got in trouble with the teacher.

When I was little I was pretending to be Toxicroak and unintentionally flipped everyone off.

I always thought car indicators told the driver where to go. Like, the driver would see the flashing little arrows on the dashboard, and then go in that direction.

when i was 5 i found a coffee bean on the floor at whole foods or something and put in in my pocket but i cried for like 10 minutes in the car because i thought i was stealing
