I'm flabergastedly confused right now. Does this mean we can only play as these characters if we have wii u and not other consoles? If so, i'm done with skylanders because this'll be a mess. If it means these Nintendo characters do get to play on the other consoles then that's all right, but I'm not sold on the idea that nintendo characters could be skylanders. Oh I wonder what kind of backstory they'll make up.

In an article I read it only stated that the nintendo characters are exclusive to the nintendo starter packs. I'm hoping this means you can still use them on other systems if you have them

Yeah, I don't like them either as I don't like either character. I'm more excited about the crossover aspect and how it opens up other possible characters. I was hoping for ones that hasn't been around in forever which would please fans like Crash Bandicoot or Conker.

The Wii, Wii U, and 3DS versions will have Nintendo charaters, so maybe they could add Crash and Conker hopefully.

Well this explains the 20 character confusion, 2 per normal element, 1 for light and 1 for dark and now bowser and donkey Kong, it also explains why the poster didn't add up

They are both Amiibo and Skylanders, and can switch between the two.

The Skylanders side will work as any normal Skylander.
The Amiibo side will work as any normal Amiibo.

Maybe King Boo is in Dark element???? O,o

It's a shame we now officially have Skylanders locked behind consoles now but what ever.

I hope they have more Nintendo characters planned. They did say they'd show more in the coming weeks, and Mario not getting one would just be confusing.

It will be a regular starter pack except everything Spitfire is replaced with Bowser and his Clown Jet.

My cousins will be SOOOOO HAPPY they won't get Spitfire inside their Wii U Starter Pack.

I at least hope he will be released as single, because they won't be able to get him on eBay...

I'm just hoping characters like mario and peach aren't in this game. I can see donkey kong and bowser in the skylander universe but not more human characters. This now raises the question on how many of these characters are there? Will there be 20 nintendo based characters with 20 nintendo vehicles with the 20 Skylanders and there 20 vehicles. E3 seriously dropped a giant bomb today

That looks about right. Which makes me even madder....I would rather have 2 new light and dark rather than 1. That to me looks like they replaced the extra light and dark with 2 amiibo characters...not cool lol

That part of the video made me hype Diddy Kong is one of my favorite Nintendo Charaters!!!

Also maybe he isn't on the actually toy and he just appears in the game or maybe he's a vehicle part you can earn in a vehicle zone.

Diddy will probably be just the Supercharger support, since I don't think there are coop intros(they have yet to show that but normally they don't jump into the car on their own). Fiesta's band is also Supercharged vehicle only.

Are they freaking serious about these? Is this a whole joke?

Nonetheless, they look okay and I'm still getting all the superchargers.

Anyone else pissed these only work on a Nintendo System? I know there Nintendo characters but the Wii U is such a poor system (tech wise). I'm not going to get a Wii U just to add to exclusive characters. This is a poor decision on Activision's part and will piss a lot of people off. One of the perks to this franchise is the "borderless" playability of the figures on any console. If they're only going to be in the console starters that's an easy fix but this could get complicated for clueless parents (and there's a lot) if they are sold separately. So should Microsoft and Sony get exclusives now? Spyro started on the PS1 and he eventually branched out to be playable on all systems. Should developers make concessions and "drop the borders"? I know as gamers most of us will say yes. It's hard to imagine that Nintendo is seemingly using these to drive console sales by keeping them exclusive but it seems to be the case.

Thank you for clarifying. This pisses me off more than anything. I understand their reasoning, but the one of the main things about skylanders has always been that you can use the characters on any platform. If you wanted to bring your favourite character over to a friends house to play, you could. But now, if your friend has a 360, you can't bring your bowser over. If you could play with them on all consoles, it would have been an amazing idea, but because you can only use them on nintendo consoles, it makes it feel like a money grab on both activisions and nintendos parts

This can't possibly be real. I'll believe it when I see it in person.

I LOVE this! It's great news. Don't hate on Nintendo. Don't be THAT guy.

Just be happy that people who love Nintendo are getting cool things. Maybe next year Sony will pony up the cash/IP and something cool from them will also be a Playstation Exclusive.

Personally I hate exclusives, but I can't see anyway Nintendo would let their characters play on other consoles. For once I am on the lucky end of the exclusive. I still disagree with them in principle, but BOY AM I GOING TO LOVE THIS.
