So looking at the tiny fine print on the image that says that Kaos is a preorder bonus, it says:

"While supplies last. Kaos figure delivered at the time of purchase. Purchase must be made between 10/16/16 -10/23/16"

I don't think they understand the meaning of preorder. Or maybe that just means that's when you can pick Kaos up? But then it shouldn't say that the purchase must be between the 16th and the 23rd.

There are actually only two Starter Packs, in terms of exclusives; the Crash one includes all the content from the regular ones.

Don't forget Crash has already been confirmed to be released in other forms as well, and apparently the Chest will be as well.
Don't think Cortex will be any different.

There's only 3. Crash, Dark and Regular. It's at least a step up from the billions of Starters that Superchargers. Also you can get Kaos with any version of the Starter as long as you preorder (or buy it Day 1).

The one with Kaos isn't its own version you just preorder at Target and they give you Kaos

Well, much better than SuperChargers. It's quite simple for me to get everything. Pick a Dark Edition Starter Pack on Pre-Order to get Kaos, Dark Master King Pen, Dark Golden Queen, Dark Wolfgang and the Fire, Life and Dark Creation Crystal on release. Then buy a Crash Edition Starter Pack for everything else. Sell your double Fire Creation Crystal, and the game/Portal you don't use. That's it. If you need a specific Pack to get Kaos, just swap out.

Tri-Tip isn't part of any Starter Packs.

I keep forgetting I'm the weird one who doesn't buy two copies of the game in order to get everything. I'm fine with just getting the starter pack characters, doesn't matter what colors they are. Wolfgang's gonna be wave 1 too, so I honestly don't see a point in getting the Dark Edition aside from the Dark Creation Crystal (Which will be released separately, mind you.)

"Purchase" meaning: When you come to the store and pick up your pre-order, when you actually pay for it. That is, if you pre-order from a physical store. Not sure how they'll handle it for online pre-orders.

This time you don't really need to buy more than one Starter Pack to get everything (Or at least, that's not what it seems like). Unless you're talking about the dark variants as well, in which case yeah, you'd need to shell out an extra hundred dollars. But yeah, seems everything except for King Pen and Golden Queen will get their own releases eventually.

I'm used to that. As long as I can get GQ, Bad Juju and some crystals, I'll be set, anything else is extras.

Anyway, I'm hoping the rumor the Tech Swashbuckler and the Bowslinger is true, since we'll be getting some unexpected stuff at Gamescom as well.
