I just dropped my mom's laptop on a tile floor and now whenever I open it there is a noise coming from the upper left hand corner. I looked under it and there's a tiny scratch, she won't care that much, but the noise. I'm not sure if it is broken or how to fix it, can anyone help please?

It works perfectly fine, just the noise. It is quieter now, and the laptop isn't warm.

Beeping sounds, per chance? From my past experiences, consequent beeping could mean some physical device inside it is placed incorrectly, most likely it misplaced when it fell.

You could always be honest and apologize for what you've done instead of trying to fix it. Actually no that's a terrible idea. Get the screwdriver and take it apart. Then improvise.

No, it is whirring, I think it is the internal fan.

Well obviously I'm going to tell her, I won't hide it, just wanted help on fixing it.

sounds like you're SOL, might have to just tell her what happened and since it's working fine she probably won't be too upset
