I neither hate nor love the show. I think it is ok background entertainment when there is nothing else to watch on television. Throughout its run it has started to lose its original quality which is the case in most of the sitcoms but it still keeps its loyal fanbase. But well... I think that Internet hates the show because, as was said before in this topic, Internet hates everything. Or could the reason be that Internet people do not want to watch a sitcom about Internet people? Could it be that Internet people do not want to watch something they can relate to but instead like to watch entertainment that seems to be so abstract from their own reality that it is simply fascinating? Of course Big Bang Theory eventually is a story about highly exaggerated stereotypical nerds who go freaking mental when a hot girl moves to apartment next door. Go figure it out, I don't know the answers.

this is part of why it sucks, nobody in real life acts like anyone in the show. at all. and every single character is a terrible person

Yeah, and they are just awful people. The stereotypes just reinforce everything. Sheldon is the stereotypical super smart know it all that absolutely doesn't understand how things work. He also has no interest in women and is like a big kid. Howard is a sex crazed loser that has no idea how relationships work. He still lives with his mom and there are creepy Oedipus type hints going on too. I absolutely hate the show, but it isn't like I have no reason to hate it.

Show was better in the earlier years...it's less funny as it used to be. I can relate to the geekness.

Also the four main characters are more or less the same person with minor added features. Leonard is probably the blandest out of them all, what's his personality, the one that gets the girl next door... yeah...
Penny is a terribly written character too, she has no likability whatsoever and I can't understand why anyone would find her entertaining, IMO.
Nearly every joke is just one of the four, nearly always Sheldon, over-explaining or analyzing something and then saying in simple terms for Penny to understand, someone show me an episode where that hasn't happened at least 15 times!
They're not relatable either, sure they're nerds but they're so over-stereotyped it's like watching an animated version of a bully's drawing.

What annoys me the most is that the show's concept had alot of potential, except the Penny idea, scrap Penny as a whole, replace her with a more interesting character trope, god please.

I like the show, I think it's pretty funny. But most of the jokes the show is most known for (Penny not understanding stuff, Bazinga, and others) I don't think are funny. I like the other jokes that aren't in like every episode though
