There's a lot of movies that were based off of a book, and most of them seem to bomb. But were there any cases where you thought the movie was actually better than the book?

I think I Am Legend is a much better movie than book. It wasn't anything like the book from what I've read so far, but that's kind of a good thing.

Jurassic Park by a longshot. The book didn't really do much except be what the film is based on, and the film practically revolutionized the whole film industry. Not to mention the book was a lot darker than the movie, from what I remember.

Umm, no I have to disagree with that. The book is like a million times better than the movie. Sure, all of the books are super long, but that's because Paolini describes things so well and explains things so that they are actually understandable. The story is kind of complex anyway, so of course it's gonna be long as hell.
Anyway, the movie was hardly even based off of the book, they changed so much it's not even funny. They probably won't be able to even make any kind of sequel because they took out so many things that will be important later in the series. I mean, if you're gonna make a popular book into a movie, you should at least follow the book as much as you can instead of totally ****ing with it. If it was just a movie and not based off of anything, yeah it would be brilliant. But it's not, so it's not.
