This, well mainly to do with the fact that Mario's never really had a personality in any of the games. >.>
Luigi's always been my favorite Mario character for a reason. Even Peach has more personality than Mario.

I wholeheartedly agree.

On an unrelated note, does anyone else think Mat Pat sounds a little conceited sometimes? I'm sure it's not intentional, but whenever I hear him speak he has this smarmy, "know-it-all" tone of voice. I must need to get my ears cleaned. @.@

He has so much more emotion than Mario. Luigi is happy, scared, upset, angry, embarrassed, etc.

Mario is always either happy or determined. Or in pain.
