sonic is actually not fast and only goes the normal hedgehog speed of 12 mph and was hit on the head really hard as a baby and everyone around him thinks it's hilarious so they just go with it
the whole world changed to make fun of sonic

what if tails gets tired of soniks **** and just easily outruns him and shoves him into a puddle and laughs at him and sonic is confused and cries

woah wait what if sonic was fast but he got wobbly hedgehog syndrome and is not fast at all anymore and can barely walk but the world slowed down to make him think he is still fast

Hey, what if that's why eggman is so fast? He speeds up when he REALLY needs to but otherwise just lets sonic seem like he's super fast?
