Mario Party (マリオパーティ Mario Pāti?) is a party video game series featuring Mario franchise characters in which four human- or computer-controlled characters compete in a board game interspersed with minigames. The series was developed by Hudson Soft and published by Nintendo; the arcade version was developed by Capcom. The series is known for its party game elements, including the often-unpredictable multiplayer modes that allow play with up to four (and sometimes eight) human players.

After the development of Mario Party 8, several of Hudson Soft's key designers left to work for Nintendo subsidiary Nd Cube, developers of Wii Party.[1] Starting in 2012 with Mario Party 9, Nd Cube has taken over development of the series from Hudson Soft. According to Nintendo Direct on April 17, 2013, there will be a 3DS edition of the franchise scheduled to release in winter 2013.

The series currently holds the record for the longest-running minigame series.[2]

Mario Party 2
Mario Party 2 was released on December the 17th, 1999. This game introduced items to the series.

Mario Party 3
Mario Party 3 was released on December 7th (Like the other two) 2000. This game adds Daisy and Waluigi as playable characters.

Mario Party 4
Mario Party 4 was released on October twenty-first 2002. This game adds in the new feature Team battle. This also the last game with DK as a playable character. It also has quite good graphics

This game has some great stages, but I'm kinda sad how they took out the orbs and replaced them with "Candy". Mario Party 8 was released on May twenty-ninth 2007. This game was planed to be the final game in the series

Mario Party 9

Mario Party game was the final game in this wonderful series. It wasn't good as the rest, probably because Hudson wasn't part of the development. Mario Party 9 was released on March second 2012

You didn't mention Mario Party Advance or Mario Party DS. (And, I wouldn't bet on the 3DS one being called Mario Party 10 as yet, unless a logo actually comes out saying "Mario Party 10")
