Swap Force Pricing Speculation [CLOSED]

So, I believe the pricing for Giants in S2 was to find out just how much consumers will pay for the toys. As you know, pricing of the S1 to S2 moved up from 7.99 to 9.99 and Giants themselves are 14.99. Starter Pack in S1 was 59.99 and jumped to 74.99 in S2.

I am guessing they are going to jump up the price to see how much we balk. My guestimates:

  • Starter Pack: 59.99 (I'm guessing they will need to concede some here as most are going to be mad about buying a new portal)
  • Core New and Returning Characters: 10.99
  • Lightcore: 12.99
  • Swap Force: 15.99

What do you think and your rationale?

Why 10,99? That's outrageous!

Outrageous was the 7.99 to 9.99 bump. What's an extra dollar? BTW, TRU's prices reflect that NOW.

Agree with this.
Toys R Us is most likely getting us used to the new prices

hmm, prices didnt change in NZ for giants, but perhaps that was because our dollar was stronger against the US when giants came out in comparison to when SSA was out.

....or perhaps it was because we were already getting ripped off before giants came out haha.

(here its 19.99 for a single character, 29.99 for a giant and 39.99 for a triple pack ~ RRP - can generally pick them up or $5 cheaper if you shop around)

I certainly hope the Swaplanders dont go for 15.99......

Since theres so many I'd ideally like to see multipacks or a slightly cheaper price (like a buck or two less than giants)

To be honest even with the light up features, the LCs really arent worth the price, especially considering they do less than what the regular figures do.

i believe that i saw in an interview the new lightcores having a wow pow. i could well be wrong however

by design it makes sense for swaplanders to come in 2 packs and single packs.

I think the Swap characters are priced like the Lightcores.

I think the game will be around $60-65/£55-60. Less than Giants, because the Giants are larger/more plastic/lights but more than SSA because the swap force characters have the magnets in them.

Normal characters will more than likely be the same price as they were for Giants, around $10/£8 - the price increase between SSA and Giants actually look place at the beginning of 2012, and so far we haven't seen a price increase again so I see no reason for the price to increase when SF is out.

Swap Force characters themselves will probably cost the same as a LC character, around $12/£12 - any more than that and I don't think anyone would consider buying one of each movement class (which you need to get to complete the game 100%).

My rationale that Swap Landers go for similar money as Giants: 1. size 2. "extra" value in terms of playing flexibility. They used the Giants as a proving ground for a higher price model.

I agree with you in regards to the value of LCs. Clearly, there's no TECHNICAL reason why they can't do the same as S2 core characters. In my mind, it's a ploy to "help" consumers who get the lightcore to also get the core characters so they get the extra features. Kinda nasty, if you ask me.

I'm not made of money either, but I'm only reporting how Activision (or their retail outlets) have been pricing to consumers in the US. There's clearly a trend up. Obviously, this may not be the same in other countries, but I'm ignorant of that...feel free to enlighten us if your experiences are different.

It would be better if they were cheaper than giants, since they are smaller. Imagine paying giants price for 16 skylanders as opposed to just 8 giants. If they increase the price too much some people will stop. They could easily keep the price low and just imagine that volume of 32 new characters plus 8 lightcore will be enough to make them money.

I feel like Swaplanders would priced right between Giants and Lightcores. So...that'd be like 13.99 (non-TRU price).

So yeah 15.99 seems about right.

It's been fun guys, but I think I'll have to bow out of this one. I wont even be getting the game starter pack because then I have that natural competitive drive to feel obligated in getting all the new characters, and I just don't think I want to embark on that this far. Almost done getting all of the giants ones I want, and when I do, I'll consider my personal collection complete and satisfied.

I actually like the game concept idea, though. I wish they did this earlier.
