Wish he would have asked if new Adventure Packs were coming out with Swap Force, or if Giant areas would be making a return in Swap Force, along with regular elemental gates.

dual element gates??

although it doesnt effect me as ill collect them all anyway...i dont see why this is a feature they should "hype" as to most this means you have to buy more to get into all the zones in the game

i could see it being a feature if dual elemental gates only appeared in co-op as thats just a cool little feature...but i dont think it has a place in 1 player
even with swap force.

If you look at it from a math standpoint:

In S:SA you needed 8 figures to clear the game 100% and access all gates (one of all elements)

S:G you needed 8 figures at least one of which had to a giant to clear the game 100%

In S:SF you need to have 8 figures to clear the game 100% (presumably) (all 8 figures have to be swapps and have to have 1 from every element)

With dual element gates there is a possible combination of 64 different gates (56 if for some reason single type gates no longer exist)

There will be presumably 2 swapps representing each element

You can still get away with using the same number of characters for the last two games for full completion

The game makes you buy all these characters this generation (it did not for S:G) and there is less choice in which ones to use than there was for (S:SA, and S:G)

Makes you buy 6 new characters since the starter will have 2. Giants required 0 since you had tree Rex and presuming you had one of each element from ssa. Ssa required 5 new purchases. I don't get why the dual gate/movement gates are making people so mad. It's not bad at all. They are a business not a charity. You theoretically spent nothing extra on giants. Now 6 new figures is blasphemy?

not 64 - that's permutation, but presumably the order doesn't matter, so there's actually only 28 combinations (36 if you include single element gates)

Yep... my bad. It is 36/28. My math counted all dual gates twice. Obviously life/undead gate would be the same as a undead/life gate. I should have noticed that

Kevinvert, the dual gates are new elemental gates in Swap Force, only in this game they will require 2 elements.
They can be accessed with a swap force character or in co-op mode.

That's for co-op. I have gone through the game playing co-op with my daughter but I enjoy a 100% completion that's all mine. It sounds like that's only going to be possible with the swap figures.

Personally, I am an all or nothing kind of guy. If I am buying this I will be getting all the swaps anyway, as well as the other new figures, lightcore and rereleases. I don't think this is the case for everyone.

edit watched the video again and it confirms both regular and dual gates.

Or VV could be sticklers and have a top water/bottom tech gate and a top tech/bottom water. Which I believe would give us 64 gates.

@ItsJustMe - you could always do single player, and drop-in to open a gate, then drop-out once it's open... smilie

They did this because people would say that their was less reason to buy as many figures so they added more to it. A big example is with Giants, that you only needed 1 Giant to do everything where as now you at least need 8 elements unless you do co op.

Yeah, I will. It just feels like a flawed system that discriminates against single player use. Although, I have to say its real petty nitpicking a game on this level that won't even be released for 8 months

@wickedrouge every skylander game including the 3ds ones has needed some combination of at least 8 figures to 100% complete.

My grievance isn't necessarily that I have to buy new figures to make this happen it is that the value of swappers to this new dynamic limits the actual options of who those eight are.

since you don't need swappers to open elemental gates (even the dual ones) you still need only 8 characters (5 actually, since they start you with 3 already). Why they would need to be Swappers is to open the movement based areas. What would be nice would to apply the 8 movement types (climbing, flying, skating/gliding,teleporting, bouncing, digging, rolling/zooming, sneaking(?)) retroactively to previous characters so that Bouncer counts as a roller and Stealth Elf as a sneaker an Sunburn as a teleporter, etc

(that sounds like a fun thread to start in fact: what movement would apply to the previous 48 characters?)

Do we know what the starters are?

agreed, it would make far more sense limiting this feature to 2 play co-op only.

Spyro's Adventure 3DS: Magic, Fire, Life
Giants: Life, Air, Undead
Giants 3DS: Life, Magic, Undead
Battlegrounds: Magic, Air, Undead

Maybe the 3DS version will come with a nice Earth character.
