Since Vicarious Visions will be making the main console versions of Swap Force, Toys for Bob, you guys have a nice break from Skylanders. We'll miss you, and we hope to see you developing another Skylanders game in the future. :3

I'm pretty much neutral with Swap Force at the moment. And the least I can do is give a shout out to Toys for Bob, and Chris at TFB too.

Yeah, I think that was the idea behind Giants. They had to get it out for next year and so just used the same engine - but (from what I've heard) VV have been working on this for as long as TFB have been working on Giants.

I think VV makes a better job with Skylanders as TfB. :3

What break? From what I've read, Toys for Bob is still deeply involved with Swap Force. Vicarious Visions is just taking the development lead.

I'd like to see it happen for sure. Vicarious Visions have a lot to prove, following in Toys For Bob's footsteps and going up against Disney Infinity. The months leading up to release will be interesting to say the least.

Can you say anything about online functionality - PvP or downloadable content at least? Or can you not comment on any of that?

I honestly hope TFB are not working on the next Skylanders after Swap Force, and are instead taking a break from Skylanders period to work on a new IP of their own. From what I hear, they've made some pretty solid games in the past, before they were given the reigns for the Skylanders IP. I'd hate to see talented developers be stuck with one IP for much of their career. I think it's always better to have more than one IP so you can cycle between them. Makes the job less repetitive for the team, and builds more hype with each instalment of an IP, if consumers have a break from it.

Don't have any additional information to give out past what has been announced in press releases so far. I'm sure more info will be forthcoming in the months leading up to the release!

Nice! What island are they going to?

And as for TFB, we'll miss you! I think it's a bit unfair they don't get to make it because they kinda invented Skylanders, but VV looks promising too!

Well if TFB and VV trade off every other year, like IW and Treyarch do with COD, this allows each dev team to spend 2 years making each game, which should allow people like us to get more Adventure Packs, Magical Items, and fresh ideas every year. In other words, TFB wouldn't have to rush each game in order to make release the following year after year.

I do hope TFB uses this new graphics engine from Swap Force, in future games, if not an even newer engine once they get the hang of Wii U/PS4/720, to keep making the games look better and better.

You know they are. Giving them a year more to develop, can only be a good thing. I was hoping the load would get taken off of their shoulder, as they instituted a similar method to the way COD development is handled every year, with two different teams making them every other year.

At first I thought VV added some ideas into the character designs of the some new Skylanders, but TFB is still in charge of the character development.

we hope that TFB shud come up with something really great as they have space and time needed to develop the next game. they got the new engine unless their developing a newer one for the new consoles. i guess will see more add on in the portal as they've already mentioned they've tried 4 down to parts. we'll prolly see booster packs like Magical items sold separately upgraded armors or weapon maybe but who knows. ONLINE features with security settings if their really concerned with the smaller kids. we hope this game will grow and innovate in the future.

There was a video where they were actually talking about having two development teams so they can spent more on the development lifecycle of these games to really step up their game.

My gut tells me this "trilogy" will end and the next game will REALLY step it up. That's my hope, anyway. I only wish they could've been more definitive in TFB's involvement, but I'm sure they didn't want anyone to know for competitive reasons.

I think the challenges they are facing is continuing to evolve the "toys to life" technology and also to prepare for the next gen consoles...both of which will take TIME and Activision doesn't want release dates to slip from it's annual perspective.
