Is it possible to playskylanders on the Wii without the Usb port majiggy?

Actually no it's not possible because that's how the wireless receiver works, therefore no it does not work but if you do take it out then you will not be able to play skylanders.

Well, it is possble by plugging in a cabled Portal like the 3DS one but you still lose a USB port so there is no real gain.

You mean the receiver? You can buy power packs for the wireless version of the portal that come with a USB cable.

...No. Battery packs for the portal that come with a USB cable - not a new portal entirely.
