i've heard people say they have found a purple whirlwind at target. dose anyone know if this is true?

Yeah, if there is a new variant, it will most likely be Emerald Whirlwind. Unless the Flocked Stump is a replacement for it- I've seen it grouped with BB and WERDS so I wouldn't be shocked if they don't make an emerald. I really hope if they do they send it out to lower Australia...

I'd love an emerald whirlwind ;_____; especially since I didn't get a chance to get blue bash and I'm not sure about werds, because it'd be in big W but I'm not sure it would ever be for sale.

There is a Target exclusive Whirlwind they have a small banner up similar to Walmart's Drill Sargent, I just don't know whats different about it, if anything.

Nothing different for the Whirlwind Taget Exclusive.

When the game came out, Whirlwind was available only at Target. Now the exclusivity is over.

I really don't think whirlwind would be the green one. That could be true but for me, I would think it could be a stealth elf, or at the very least..... Boomer....... I think a green Dino-Rang would be cool! Also a Midnight Purple Voodood smilie not like Metallic Purple cynder but like the purple like their using for Red DS/ Blue Bash

Target exclusive Whirlwind had a glossy white cloud base that it stands on while standard retail Whirlwind has an airbrushed dusty looking cloud base. That is the only difference between the two out of package.

I bought my Whirlwind while she was a Target Exclusive and the base is not glossy

@Reimu: Your Whirlwind isn't the "Target exclusive" version then. Did you buy it in a Target store or via auction site? If you did it by auction, it looks like you may have been cheated...and if so, hopefully you didn't pay too much for it. Apparently non-US exclusives of Whirlwind and Drill Sergeant were different in packaging only and the figures themselves are completely identical to ones currently available. ...in the end, it doesn't really matter though unless you're a collector who wants every variation of every figure. The figure itself is completely the same between the two versions, so it'd only really matter if you actually wanted the different base...which is admittedly, pretty silly for those only casually into Skylanders.

I bought it from an auction site when it was a Target exclusive, and it had the "At Target only" thingy (the round sticker) on it. Whirlwind wasn't available at all in Canada yet.

I'll take a closer look tonight but I'm pretty sure that the base isn't glossy. Maybe it's not all "Target Exclusives" that are like that?

It didn't come with a round sticker I'm afraid. You've possibly been had, but as you can see in spyroflame0487's picture, the differences are minimal. Hardly noticeable unless you really know what you're looking for and I don't blame you if even after staring at it for a bit that you still can't see it in the picture, but they're definitely there and consistently have been there in all images/videos online of Target exclusive Whirlwind shown in correct Target exclusive packaging. As much as it is worth, I've verified it with my own eyes having bought both and I can even take a picture of my TE and worldwide editions if you so desire if it matters to you.
