Why, are you going to spray paint characters gold and silver and replace them in their boxes to sell them on ebay for 5000 dollars? Anyway, I would try using a hair dryer to loosen the glue but be careful to not melt the plastic front.

^ I figured so, I was just messing with ya. Remember to start with one corner and if it doesn't want to remove easily, try the next one. The downside with using a hairdryer is that it could warp the cardboard so you should have it laying flat on a heat safe table to help prevent this and try to not let too much heat hit the plastic front. I would recommend starting from the top of the box with the "Skylanders" logo since there's more area for the heat to spread out and there might be less glue there. Try not only concentrating heat on the front of the box but also on the back and alternate.

yeah, i figured you were just messing with my head.

hmmm, i'm wondering if maybe leaving it on a hot radiator could work in softening the glue.

Possibly, I would keep an eye on it just in case of a fire hazard.

I use a letter opener and start from the bottom and stop a little over the logo on each side, then I pull it out and it looks unopened except without the actual skylander

If you have an xacto knife, you should be able to cut right around the glue areas and get it out that way.

the good old hairdryer trick, but a word of warning;
make sure to heat the area very evenly, meaning keep the hairdryer moving around very quickly, either small circles or side-to-side swipes. you do not want hot spots.

i suggest testing it on a character you don't value very much in order to get the technique down

You do realise that you can play the character while it is still in the box, right?

Osbor is right, use a hair dryer. Careful not to melt the plastic or heat unevenly, though. You might want to try first with something that isn't this Skylanders case and get a feel for it. Some other action figure perhaps.

yes i know they can be played while inside the pack. call me weird, but i think toys need to be played with outside their packaging.

Then the alternative line of questioning is why you need to keep the packaging looking mint?

When I was trying to save the backing cards, I cut the plastic away with a sharp knife. Then I realised I had no reason to save the packaging since the artwork for them was on the cards and gave that idea up.

Then I personally you have two choices (given that you don't want to play with it whilst MIsmilie:

1/. Open it properly and accept it is not MIB
or
2/. Buy a normal Cynder and play with that is it will be no different.

*If* you are trying to have your cake and eat it too by playing with it and then resealing it to claim MIB status, then I say, "Shame on you, sir!"

By the way, did someone say Cake?

nah, i would never open and reseal it's just not the sort of thing i would do. i have no intention to sell it on either, i just wanted it for my son's collection.

already have a normal cynder. guess i will just have to see if if i can get it open cleanly.

... now, for some strange reason i feel the need to go and eat some Cake!
