Hiya new comenting, but been following the forum since the Skylanders game came.
Just wanting to mention that today looking round ebay I found that apparently there is a Stump Smah silver variant.
Dunno if anybody knew bout it, but I wanted to let the ones that want all of them know X3

And since I know the rules you all get here the proof
[User Posted Image]

I bought it today so once I got it in my hands I will post another proof of its existence.

Pretty cool!I wonder if every skylander is going to have a colour variant?

I think Stump Smash would have been better suited to be in gold not silver; meh but that is just me.

Looks legit, I mean it looks like the other silver varients rather than someone who's painted it. You'll be able to tell if it's legit if it hasn't been opended.

I don't believe it's real. I am going to contact Nat Loh about this. I want to clarification if it's real or not. As of now, I don't believe this. There is no new wave out. Why would they go from silver, to gold, then back to silver? Heck, I expect wave 4 to be a different type of variant.

I will let you know what he says.

Hmm. We know the next shipment will have Warnado, Lightning Rod, Zook, Camo and Wham Shell. That would leave a spot open to make it a box of 6 different figures. So if Stump Smash is real, he's probably one of them, meaning 2 of those other 5 are also probably silver.

Granted of course.

I also cry shennanigans on this one, given that there is no other one for sale in the world or mentioned (the GoogleFu is strong in this one).

This is the best image we can get.

I am not even saying that the seller is knowingly selling a fraud as they may well have bought it to resell and been duped themselves.

I remember one time I wanted a 64G Kingston USB stick and the seller I used bought a carton of what he thought was the genuine article only to be stooged. This seller had a 100% rating in the 1000's so was not going to risk his rep on a tiny profit.

Taping off the plastic green around the base, and spray painting a figure is an easy thing to do. Using a hair dryer, you can heat up the plastic and remove it from the card carefully without any stress fractures or tearing. You can use the same method to reseal the package. I wouldn't believe this is real until I saw others the same way.

I'm at a loss to see the appeal of the Silver or Gold variants of figures.

Other than they are variants and it appeals to those of us that are completionists (I am not such a Skylanders player), but am I the only one that finds these things unattractive?

I think they are pretty lame, too. If they were silver in the game, that would be different. But I'm not a collector, either.

You are not alone. They just look honestly unattractive; with their eyes filled in and all. The only one who doesn't look absolutely vulgar is Gold Drill Sergeant, and even then the ordinary one looks ten times better.

Just my opinion, but yeah. smilie

This time is different. This time the seller is making note to say it's "THE" only one on Ebay. Everytime there is a variant for Skylanders, it shows up in droves within a couple of days. Funny that this is the "THE" only one so far. The seller is making sure to make that known.

OR, it could be a way to make up for what we spent in about 10 years time. If these things go up in value later on (I've seen Gamesharks go for tons), it would be a good way to make some money later on.

One person already made an auction - albeit laughable at this point in time - selling all golds and silvers, for like 1000+ US dollars.

Oh, well, nevermind. It seems to have actually sold -

http://www.ebay.com/itm/ULTRA-...=item416244fb84

I guess the joke's on me. So 1200+ now, what later? That's like 200 per figure. Not even I spent that much on my golds and silvers. Hmmm.

EDIT: Maybe for ***** and giggles, I should list my gold and silvers, plus Metallic Cynder, for 1500. See what happens. Now that's something truly worth breaking out all of the popcorn gifs.

How is purchasing something that can potentially go up in value a waste of money? I have no desire to own any of the silvers or golds for game play, nor would I spend any major amount on eBay to obtain them. I have a silver Boomer, it's still in the package. I paid $9.99 at Toys R Us for it. No intentions of selling it right now on eBay, but probably by the time Giants is out, or maybe even later, I'm sure it will fetch a few bucks. I've seen several of you beat up on GameMaster78 over his collection. Why? How does it affect you in anyway? If he opens every set he has or keeps them sealed forever, it matters not. His collection no matter how large has no bearing on the supply and demand of the world wide distribution of these toys. It's a new game, a new concept, will it ever be worth a ton of money to have a bunch of variants still in packaging? Who knows? If it makes someone happy to collect each and every one of them though, then it's money well spent.

bornsc, you comment was: What a waste of money, but according to your icons, you have over 25 Skylanders. You only needed the 3 it came with to win the game, and only 5 more to get a 100%, so some could argue that you have wasted money. I will assume you have spent money on what you personally wanted and that it made you happy to do so.

Let's hope if this new Silver Stump Smash does prove to be a fake, that in will at least prompt Activision to release an official variants available list. You would think that they would want to make sure their customers know what is actually out there.

So the reason for purchasing these is for speculation on the secondary market. It reminds me of the infamous "Dutch Tulip Mania"
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tulip_mania

Or to put it in more modern terms celebrities that are famous for being famous, such as Paris Hilton.

The value in them is 100% perceived value and not true intrinsic value. Such an interesting economic phenomenon that is.

Hopefully there won't be a market crash as in that Tulip example I just gave. If you're holding onto these for investment purposes it's by definition a bubble and such things have been known to burst.

Good luck with them though. I'll be passing on them and hopefully not kicking myself for doing so ten years from now.

The Hex figure is out of the box, and is a crappy imitation. The person that did the Stump Smash appears to have done an excellent job. From the pictures, it's impossible to tell it's not a fake.

I just went over his auction. He doesn't list it's a custom at all, for the silver Stump Smash. He just says it's the only one on Ebay.

He doesn't list that he opened the figure, painted it, put it back in the package, and resealed it.

The condition is listed as "NEW," which means unopened, undamaged, unless otherwise noted in the seller's comments. All the seller does, is show the bio from the Wiki, on Stump Smash.

The buyer should be made aware of this.
