We already know Cynder will be a playable character in the "Giants" game.

He should be for two reasons:

1. He's featured in the trailer.

2. The Skylanders: Spyro's Adventure Champions are playable in Skylanders Giants. Therefore, even if he isn't released as a rereleased Champion, you can still play as him with the original figure.

I interpreted this question with the premise tha the OP knows that the orig figure will work.

With that degree of comprehension, I presumed that they meant will the do a re-model of Spyro for the game.

Since a redesign of a previous Skylander is coming with the starter pack, it's no doubt that it'll be Spyro. Also, why would Cynder get a redesign but not Spyro?

Even if Spyro isn't gonna play much of a role in Giants, hopefully Activision will give him his own game soon after.

I'm guessing that the new Skylander in the starter pack, Spyro, Trigger Happy, and Gil Grunt will all be "featured" in the game. By that, I mean that an NPC will personally respond to them with their name. (In the original, placing a Spy, Trigg or Gil on the first level when you're instructed to put them on the portal will make Hugo personally say "Spyro!" or "Trigger Happy!" or "Gil Grunt!", while if you place another one (say...Prism Break) he'll just say "Skylander!")

Did you not read the news on this game or anything?

They said that past Skylanders will be able to be used in the game, hence seeing Stealth Elf in with one of the Giants in one of the sneak-peek images.
