I don't know if anyone else has seen this, but this is on the Skylanders page on Toysrus.ca



SERIOUSLY?! Man, and I thought the RELEASED version of Boomer looked ugly. Yeah the released version is ugly, but at least he makes up for it by looking crazy enough that if you were to tell him to his face that he's ugly, he'd stuff dynamite down your pants. THIS version looks like a mix between Boomer, Yoda, Cell's bug form in Dragonball Z, and Drowzee from Pokemon. Would you have EVER bought him in that model?! Not a chance.

All I can say is that I have new found appreciation for the Boomer we ended up getting.

^ To be honest I like the prototype version of Boomer better, he looks more intimidating. Also Eruptor's face is different, he doesn't have teeth like the current one.

Edit: They most likely changed the way the looked to make them more kid friendly and less intimidating.

I think I'm in the crowd that actually likes the prototype visual better.

I actually like both versions. The only thing I don't like about Boomer (and it seems to be the case with both versions) is his beard. Trolls with facial hair is just weird to me.

EDIT: I also prefer the Prototype Eruptor. The mouth full of sharp teeth look really stupid to me.

^ Yeah, I never understood the hair bit either, there were some older versions of him without the hair and he looked much better. Maybe they thought the hair somehow made him more kid friendly because the current Boomer has orange hair like a Muppet or something ? I like both versions of Eruptor but the older one makes more sense because teeth do seem out of place on a volcanic lava monster.

Even way back when this poster was made they seem to know Stealth Elf was OP ....

Anyone else notice how Gill Grunt and Eruptor have changed too? In the revised artwork they are smiling. Ghost Roaster's colouring is different now too. And we all know about the revised artwork for Spyro xD

I like the current Boomer. I don't really see him as ugly. Just hilariously psychotic.

^ Yeah Ghost Roaster's chain is red in that picture instead of silver. Here's a picture with some of the final versions of the characters:



You can see the slightly altered, smiling version of Gill Grunt and the Europtor with teeth.

I like it better as well

Well it IS a kid's game.

Eruptor's prototype looks better than the real eruptor.

Ghost Roaster looks great in Red, and Eruptor looked better too.
Actually, i wouldn't mind having a Ghosty colored like that. inb4 Target releases "Redlanders" with variations of them all colored with red accents.

Boomer looks like they were going for the stereotypical troll sort of look. We saw in some other prototypes (Possibly just extra figures) the Boomer was supposed to look like the Trolls ingame. I guess they wanted him to have a more cartoony look but he just looks outright goofy now.

Proto-Boomer was too old and passed away shortly before release. The current younger Boomer was a fill-in for his spot. All the Boomer skill, armament, and heritage has been passed down.

I don't see why Stealth Elf is in the front of them.
This game is called "Skylanders: Spyro's Adventure". Not "Skylanders: Stealth Elf's Adventure".

your statement is false. he is pretty much just any other skylander, like gill grunt or sonic boom.

I prefer old Boomer. His grumpy face makes me feel for him. And brings to mind classic portrayals of monstrous trolls from myths and stories.

He really didn't seem like a leader to you in the trailers, commanding the Skylanders to battle and giving them a pep talk?

He's still an important character, anyhow, just like all the Skylanders. It'd be stupid to say it has nothing to do with Spyro at all and he's not important. It's a new storyline for him.

i dont know what you mean by that. but i am still right. the trailer had also nothing to do with the game. in the game, spyro is still some random guy.

no, i mean the trailer is nothing like the game. there, spyro was the leader. but in the game, he wasnt. he just was there as one of the skylanders. even on the game cover, he is standing besides stealth elf, who is in front, instead of him.

I don't see how you can make that statement with the information we have. If he's the leader in the trailer, why is it different in the game? He would probably be the leader if the game had more cutscenes which involved individual Skylanders.
Just because he sits there as one of the Skylanders doesn't mean he isn't the leader?

Oh and as for the cover thing, then with that logic Stealth Elf is the leader then.

Then I guess Spyro is considered the leader only of the Dragon Skylanders, since he's in the very center of the group. I'm basing this off of the official Skylanders Year of the Dragon picture that was posted.

if spyro was the leader of anything, the game shold give any hints of it at least, dont you think? i havent heard or seen any of that. i dont see him as any ''leader'' of anything. mearly a member of the group is what he is.

and the whole cover thing, it would make more sense to have him infront of the cover if he was the boos of the group.

The devs did confirm that Spyro was the leaderish sort of the Skylanders though, Lyra.

They probably would've gave some hints if the game focused more of individual Skylanders (which they didn't, they didn't focus on personality or anything). He did act like the leader in the trailer, right? And the trailer counts.

I think what could be said is that if you're a big Spyro fan, Skylanders has less focus on Spyro himself than fans would want. He doesn't have NOTHING to do with the game, but he isn't as center stage as a lot of fans would like.

It does have less focus on Spyro than fans would want, that's true.
That's also true that it doesn't have absolutely nothing to do with Spyro, which is what was implied.
