I think they're pretty cool, but not as rare as they're being made out to be.

Yeah, Activision claim that they did it intentionally... Personally, I think it was a factory error that they used to their advantage. They're releasing another range of rare Skylanders next year too. They made a post on the Skylanders facebook page where you can vote for which colour you want; green, blue or red.

I admit to voting on that poll. I think they're neat-looking, but I'm not exactly hunting them out.

I have a silver Dino Rang. If I see a silver Boomer or Eruptor, I will buy them. However, I won't pay the stupid price people are asking for them on Ebay.

Yeah those ebay prices are outrageous I found my silver boomer at a future shop of all places they had a MASSIVE or still have a massive amount of skylanders they are 9.99 instead of 7.99 but it's worth it for the silver one and i'm not letting go of it at least not right now

I'm with you i thought the same thing when i seen it if you look at the eyes I mean even if they are a defect they are still rare
but yeah i think they just forgot the paint job

No, their toy figures are just silver.

That would be cool if they were silver in the game. And that is what makes me think they were mistakes not on purpose

I'm guessing that this was the first set of the Skylanders were silver to test the paint. Then they tested the later ones to see if the colors were a go. But let me tell you, I think this is Activision's first time making toys with paint like this one. So maybe It was beginners flaw of the factory.

In an interview, Toys for Bob said that they use the service of a toy factory, they are not made by Activision, they use the services of a specialized factory, I don't think it's a mistake now

It's not a mistake at all. It's just a marketing tactic to get people to buy more.

I now own all three currently available silver variants. They look like they have been purposely painted silver.

I believe it was Reimu who said in an earlier thread that unpainted plastic is clear.

Also, silver is not a useful undercoat colour so there would be no reason for them to be silver otherwise.

Not clear but it depends on the toy. For instance, Gill Grunt's plastic is blue, it depends on the base of the character. Eruptor is kinda orange (you can see if you break it, but don't lol). The paint job is mostly for details.

sooo... are the silver ones pretty much the same thing as regular ones except that they're silver in real life? or are they silver in-game too? because its only worth it for me if they're silver in-game as well

If you read the thread, you'd see they're only silver in their figure form - they're a regularly-colored skylander in the video games.

Congratulations on your find. We've been looking at every store we visit, and have yet to see one. Be proud, and don't sell it on eBay even if you need the cash. ... After all, think of how much it'll be worth in a year. lawl

As of yet, Bash is the only known model. I would reckon that he was who they selected as their "concept version," and once the release color is decided, they'll figure out which other figures should be translucent.

As someone who is also working on a complete boxed collection, silver figures are worth far more to me than a quick $100 on eBay. While I wouldn't demand the same of anyone else, I certainly intend to keep any silvers I am fortunate enough to find.

I'm keeping them
and have no intention of selling them
Maybe like 1 year or 2 from now if someone wants to offer me a HUGE amount of money

But i'm a huge skylander fan and like yourself would be buying them if they were rare or not
I like the great job they have done on the figures better then the toys i use to have

I hope i find the silver erupter thats the only one i need
And i have huge feeling that those translucent skylanders will be even rarer hope not

cost money, so that is why it dont get included... silver spray paint a few leftovers cost less than getting all detail painted on.. i think this is just to test the waters. when skylanders2 comes out, new rare skylanders will have a function ingame, i think.

I happened across a Silver Ignitor before I even knew they existed. I asked the worker why it was silver and he had no idea. He even told me a different customer asked him the same question earlier that day and didnt buy it. So i put it back on the shelf and looked up Silver Skylander on my phone and once i realized what it was went directly back to the shelf and bought it. Kind of a neat encounter.

I would like to see a picture of your silver Ignitor....I have only herd of three silver Skylanders characters and a silver faced Ignitor?
