I downloaded the music from Youtube into .mp3 format and burned the .mp3's on to 3 CD's.

I have CD's of the Insomniac music, "Enter the Dragonfly," "A Hero's Tail," "A New Beginning," the beginning music and song from "The Eternal Night," and "Dawn of the Dragon," mostly acquired the same way.

I don't think this is the best place to talk about burning soundtracks to CDs, Archae...

The only "piracy" going on is the people who put the tracks on to Youtube.

That's where I downloaded the tracks from, using a legal program called DVDVideosoft Free Studio, and then burned the tracks onto CD using another legal program called Burn4Free.

Couple years ago I talked to a lawyer I know, he told me the company can go after (if they wanted to, but they appear in this case not to,) the people who have put the tracks onto Youtube.

True, but advertising it doesn't go well either. Especially when you can buy them from Amazon.

^ZING!

Though Amazon can be inexpensive at times. Wouldn't buy music from them, though.

It's definitely not piracy in the case of the Classic games. Other than ETD, none of the Classic games got a purchasable soundtrack, to my knowledge. Ripping the soundtrack from the game is the only possible way to get them.

^Plus I don't recall Sony or Insomniac ever claiming copyrights on them. So with the original games, it's one thing. I don't even think any of the LoS games had a released soundtrack.

But Skylanders' soundtrack is available for purchase, and therefore has a copyright placed on it. Whether or not you rip it or pay for it is up to you. But don't announce it on a site that most likely prohibits discussing that kind of activity.

ANB and TEN's soundtracks were released on iTunes. There are hardly any ANB songs on YouTube, due to them being taken down for copyright claims, but I think most of TEN's soundtrack is on YouTube, which I find strange.

Guide You Home is also on iTunes, but again, is still found on YouTube, for some reason.

Personally, I like to have the CD with a pretty insert and packaging rather than a title scrawled on in sharpie.

It's not that hard to make your own professional-looking inserts and labels. But I know what you mean.

Never said they did. Guide You Home is the only DotD song on iTunes.

Same here. I kinda hate how so many companies skip the CD entirely.... I'll gladly buy a CD, but I won't buy a file.

One thing I will *NOT* do is download a torrent of the game or soundtrack.

I don't trust torrents to begin with, (they can be infected with a virus,) and most torrents are illegal rips.

Someone has to complain about them for their removal; that does not make them any more legitimate in the meanwhile.

Do you realize how big Youtube is, and how little their staff is compared to how big Youtube is?
