Malefor is a messed up old gid. he likes to mess with their heads. Take the end for example as he tries to manipulate both Spyro & Cynder and tries to make them fight eachother. When they refuse that's when he becomes angered and attempts ( and fails...) to finish them off.

Maybe Malefor wanted to kill Spyro and Cynder him self instead of his minions...

Another question is... why didn't they just grab their crystal and throw it into lava?

I feel like the most reasonable answer is that Malefor wanted to deal with them himself..us Maybe enslave Spyro and use his power, since he's a legendary Purple Dragon afterall. Or maybe he just wanted to kill them himself, seeing as they complicated his plan.
There couldn't be much of a story left if they were killed at the start, anyway.us

How strange would that be if there was a twist at the end of the game where Malefor was really the Golem, the Golem was really the Destroyer, and the Destroyer was really Malefor. *gasp* Then Malefor would be a giant cannibol in disguise.

Krome were actually pitching the idea that Malefor was the polar to Spyro in every way and for a more detailed background and understanding.

They weren't walking, Angelic. The Grublins dragged them away while they were still unconscious.

Infact Malefor stated it was the duty of a Purple to end the world, now take in context no-one can find anything about the other purple dragons or life before malefor was even born reason why: Purple dragons already ended it other countless times and life just picked up again after those events

Huge dotd freak, Sparx does like Ignitus. If you're talking about the scene when he was looking envious at Spyro and Cynder's bond while Ignitus is smiling at him, you misunderstood that scene.

But for me, I don't get bothered by plotholes that much. I may seem like I do with Sonic 06, but I generally just use plotholes to poke fun at a game. And Sonic 06's glitches are the bigger issue there......(******* MAGNETIC WALLS!!!!)

^This. It's a Video GAME. It should be fun to PLAY. The Chrome games had a good plot, but they weren't that fun. The levels were ALL Exactly the same, across BOTH games. I bet you if Chrome had made it it WOULD be another Carbon Copy of the 1st two. And I didn't even notice the plotholes,
