Nintendo is bringing back the NES - only a little smaller.

Today the company announced what it's calling the Nintendo Entertainment System: NES Classic Edition.
It looks just like an NES, only a lot tinier, and it comes with 30 games built in.
You can connect it to your TV via an HDMI cable, and it also includes a controller designed to work just like the iconic rectangular NES game-pad.
(The new controller will also connect to a Wii Remote, so that you can use it to play Virtual Console games on a Wii or Wii U)

In addition to HDMI support and a lack of cartridges, the new mini-console also features one useful modern convenience: multiple suspend points.
(So that you won't have to fumble around with passwords when you start playing a game again)

The NES Classic Edition will be available on November 11th for $59.99.

Here's the complete list of games:
  • Balloon Fight
  • Bubble Bobble
  • Castlevania
  • Castlevania II: Simon's Quest
  • Donkey Kong
  • Donkey Kong Jr.
  • Double Dragon II: The Revenge
  • Dr. Mario
  • Excitebike
  • Final Fantasy
  • Galaga
  • Ghosts'N Goblins
  • Gradius
  • Ice Climber
  • Kid Icarus
  • Kirby's Adventure
  • Mario Bros.
  • Mega Man 2
  • Metroid
  • Ninja Gaiden
  • Pac-Man
  • Punch-Out!! Featuring Mr. Dream
  • StarTropics
  • Super C
  • Super Mario Bros.
  • Super Mario Bros. 2
  • Super Mario Bros. 3
  • Tecmo Bowl
  • The Legend of Zelda
  • Zelda II: The Adventure of Link

  • Not mentioned in the article:
  • Additional controllers can be bought for just a mere $9.99.
  • The mini-console is compatible with both the Wii Classic Controller and Wii Classic Controller Pro.
  • Games that supported two-players on the original NES will also support two-players on the Classic Edition.

It has Castlevania, my favorite video game of all time, so I'll be buying it. Shame that it doesn't have Castlevania 3 and the other two Ninja Gaiden games, but Castlevania, The Legend of Zelda, and Ninja Gaiden make it worth the price by themselves.

Wow, this came right out of nowhere, but it's awesome.

I'll think about buying it. I already got some of the games I would want through the Ambassador Program and would have MUCH preferred a SNES, since I never had that console and it seems more appealing anyway, but nothing beats the experience of sitting down on the couch to play a retro gaming console.

Interesting. I'll not buy it, but it's still fun to see.

Maybe they can do that with other old consoles. Game Boy would be a good choice.

If you aren't familiar with these games, be ready to have your butt whooped. 80's video games were seriously tough. Skylanders is a candy-assed cake-walk in comparison.

That selection tho. I'm definitely getting that when it comes out. I wanna play me some Punch Out and Mega Man!

Buying ALL of these exact same games on Virtual Console would actually be quite a bit more expensive in comparison to simply buying this.
(And even then, this is dirt cheap - same price as most triple A games as of late)

Not only that, but this is mostly for nostalgic and retro gaming purposes rather than mainstream gaming purposes anyways.

Plus 10 more for the controller. Basically the standard price for a triple A game, which I think is fair!

Huh, it does... Sorry, I was thinking this was like the New 3DS where it missed a very important accessory. My bad!

That is true. However, there are only 8 or 9 games there that I really like. What's a better value, 8 games you like and 22 you don't, or your favorite 12 games?

It could introduce you to cool old games you've never heard of before. Before Smash, I'd never played Baloon Fight, but they had it in the little demo section thing, and I found it to be really fun! You just have to be open to try new things!

If only a few catch your eye, I'd say just buy them individually on the eShop. However, every single one of these games is absolutely amazing and I'd suggest buying the Mini NES to get all of them. Then again, I already own or have played most of these games, I own 2 separate NES, and I'm still buying it, so perhaps I'm not the best to offer money saving advice ^.^
