Tomorrow and on Saturday I'm going to a venipuncture course that will give me my certificate to practice phlebotomy (the process of drawing blood from a patient.)

I have absolutely no fear of blood and I've has experience with handling needles before, but I only found out a few days ago that to practice drawing blood from a patient, we'll be assigned partners and will be drawing blood from each other. I don't really want to be used as a novice's lab rat. Better say goodbye to my veins...

Welcome to my world whenever some lesser experienced person tries to find veins in my twig arms :U The dark spots of failed attempts don't take too long to fade, usually.

I had someone whose never drawn blood before practice on me. The second time she tried she did it pretty well, the first time however left a bruise at the injection site/elbow pit and my whole left arm aches twelve hours later.

I'll let you decide.

I digress, it was actually pretty fun. smilie Except for the take home exam... Which I'm still doing at 1AM.

I got stuck with a needle recently to have some blood drawn and my wrist still hurts, which isn't surprising considering how many times they had to stick me to get it in right. Hopefully you're gentler than they were to me.

According to the head phlebotomist, I'm very gentle and I barely leave a mark.

How many times did they try to get a vein? Apparently you should only try twice on each arm before you call it quits or refer them to another phlebotomist.
