Again, stuff doesn't look pretty for the games, but missing convention appearances is the norm right now for them and any other game that's not their big three. Can only hope for some Spyro remaster announcement and Skylanders RPG once summer vacations are over.

Don't expect an announcement of a Spyro remaster until E3 2018

I've said it before and I'll say it again. the series itself is not dead, the IP is not dead, its still worth too much money. The market has(had) grown oversaturated and it is contracting. when things look like they make since fiscally, expect a resurgence. Yes it will be handled differently, no your current figures won't work anymore most likely, and I fully expect purchases to be "digital only" or turned to "cards" like Amiibos slowly are becoming.

Wait, all the skylander toys won't work on the next game? Where did you hear this? And cards? Didn't Activision already tried cards on Skylanders BattleCast and they failed?

They replace figures entirely - it'd probably be a high quality artwork or model of the Skylander and you'd tap it to the NFC to activate them. This was not a peaceful death for Skylanders. Imaginators seemed like a new hope at first, but it sadly proved to be a lost cause. Good thing I still have all of my boxes so I can repackage the Sensei and sell them. It's sad that it had to end this way. The way Kaos was banned this time made it seem like there was a guaran teed seventh game, but I guess not. It was still an amazing six years for me, and I will never forget them.

Just realized something it's about TFB's unannounced project. Currently there's debate if it's a Skylanders game or a Spyro remake and it may not be a Spyro remake. Remember those job listings from TFB for their next project? Well that project isn't a PS4 exclusive. If this project was a Spyro remake then they would've said this project was for PS4 only. Crash bandicoot Nsane trilogy is a PS4 exclusive so it would make sense for a possible Spyro remake to also be PS4 exlusive. However since this project is multi plat, that basically rules out a Spyro remake from TFB. Not to mention that it sounds like from Dan Tangaway from VV that they were the ones who were well aware of the demand of a Spyro remake. So all in all the unannounced project is most likely not a Spyro trilogy remake

It's been made clear time and time again. Heck even Dan from VV was fed up with people not accepting it. There was even a promotional sign from activison that said it's a PS4 exclusive

It's called a hiatus guys
Remember back when Assassin's Creed stopped doing yearly releases? Did people go crazy saying the series was canned? I don't actually know but point is it wasn't. They just decided the current model wasn't working and turned to more reasonable releases. Academy still alive and well is proof, to me at least, that the series still has a chance.
If there's no 2018 game or an announcement of Academy season 4, then I freak out.

Here's how I'd want to see the series go now:

* 2017 - Academy Season 2, further development and showcasing of mobile game, possible info about Skylanders 7 if it happens.

* 2018 - Academy Season 3, mobile game release, Skylanders 7 announced, coverage and release later in the year. Game has no gimmick (but around 30-40 new Skylanders), and centers around Malefor as a tie in for Season 3. This is the rebirth of the series.

My prediction

2017: reveal of the mobile game and is surprisingly good. Season 2 trailer for academy comes and the fanbase bounce's of the walls. Season 2 arrives October.

2018: In January we get more news on the mobile game with a release window of March. In February Activision has their press conference and confirms Skylanders 7 and will be developed by TFB along with a reconfirmation of academy season 3. The next couple of months is nothing but fake leaks. May 2018 arrives and near the end of the month we get our first real sky 7 leak. June 2018 arrives and the reveal of sky 7 is here! The fanbase rejoices. E3 2018 comes and at Sony's press conference they confirm a Spyro trilogy for PS4 developed by VV. Hunter will also be a guest star in sky 7. The Spyro fanbase rejoices about the trilogy and the Skylanders fans and Spyro fans may finally be at peace. More Skylanders revealed during E3. Next couple of months is news and leaks.

SI > TT > SF > SC > SG > SA

SI: Gimmick I have the most fun with, all Skylanders playable, pretty much best combat
TT: Best gimmick and concept, decent amount of levels with a good length, interesting story
SF: Best graphics, best amount of content (though I'm not a fan of replaying every level 4-5 times)
SC: "Worst" Skylanders game but pretty solid entry for what it is, good story
SG: My first Skylanders game, it hits my nostalgia more than SA. Every game released after was better though
SA: Good story and I can see "the magic" it has. However, since I started with SG and went up, trying SA after SF and TT felt like a big downgrade (graphics and inability to jump mainly)

Let's hope the RPG is good. Honestly I don't know if the RPG will count as a spin off or not, being on mobile.

I also find it funny that Giants introduces some of my favorite characters, but is my least favorite game in the series on both Console and 3DS fronts!

That's not to say I dislike any of them. For Imaginators, while I did love the game I couldn't help but keep getting the impression of the game having a rushed development, I definitely think that it could have had a few months more to polish it. While at first I did like the talking Skylander NPCs, upon replaying previous games I can't help but miss a lot of the humour between Cali, Flynn, Hugo and the gang. Finally, my most major gripe was that in Imaginators more than anything they really pushed for you to purchase more figures and creation crystals, there were constant adverts on the loading screens, there were a lot of paywalls and even micro transactions (which I hate in the best of times, let alone in an already expensive game such as this one). While it obviously wasn't anything to do with the developers, the era of Imaginators came at a time where I didn't have as much money to spend on skylanders (due to doing a lot of travelling in the past year) so the lack of funds was already an issue without the game requiring a creation crystal and sensei from every element to get the full experience.

The thing with Imaginators is that, apart from the "gimmick" and the Senseis, it's just really average and simple, not only compared to the rest of the games but also within its genre. It has "a lot" of things but still feels kind of empty, and it's too child-oriented. If it weren't for the Creation Crystals and the Senseis, it'd go in the fourth place for me with any doubt, even in the fifth after Trap Team (but improving racing means a lot to me, although you can't use trap anymore).

I liked SC. Still my second least favourite, but still good.

The new characters were great too. We've got
Splat: One of my favourite Magic Skylanders
Smash Hit: Enjoyable all around
Dive-Clops: Pretty enjoyable too
Spitfire: Love everything about him, even if he doesn't spit fire
High Volt: Way better than his vehicle
Fiesta: I agree, Fiesta was great.
Stormblade: KNIIIIIVES!
Thrillipede: Eh, he's okay
Astroblast: Fun to play, even if his circle kick is... um... less than useless.
Nightfall: A fun character with a great design, like all Dark characters (except Eye Scream and Fisticuffs)

I liked the reposes too. That's all I got on that.
