PARTY PARTY PARTY YES YES THIS IS SUCH GOOD NEWS
maybe next they'll stop doing their ****ty ass shows
i hope all the orcas die off soon. as horrible as it sounds, they cannot be released into the wild because of how dependent they are on their trainers and the fact they need to be constantly cared for to avoid infection.

Not bad.

Though I need to wonder what they will possibly do for entertainment and enjoyment for customers if they also end shows with it. I'm aware the treatment of the animals is awful and really needs work, but would it just mean no more shows period? I don't think people would be interested in going to such an expensive place if there's not much flashy things.

Idk why they'd want to give money to a place like that anyway. They can find somewhere else to go >.>

^Do realize though that there are other aquariums.

And on the whole I talk about all aquariums, since if Seaworld's shows are banned the shows for other aquariums will likely follow suit regardless of how the animals are treated. How many people (without small children) really care to go to a place to only watch fish swim around? Yeah I'm cool with it and others here probably are too but we're likely a minority.

I am not trying to defend Seaworld's piss poor treatment of show animals in the slightest but more asking an actual question about what these places will do to attract customers outside of the aquatic life they already have.

Woohoo!

Honestly, if they just went back to the drawing board and redesigned Sea World into a theme park, I would go. I've only been twice and Manta was a fun roller-coaster, but that was before I found out, about the truth, now I've pledged never to return unless they do change their ways.

I'm not involving myself into the SeaWorld controversy because I've heard really good arguments from both sides.

But honestly SeaWorld isn't even that great of a park, at least the one in Orlando. The food sucks, only a couple shows are good, and it's strangley dirty for a place that has a lot of water.

the rides are awesome though that's honestly the only thing i look forward to.

It's just the one in San Diego. Although this means that we'll have to masturebate the whales to collect the sperm even more.

Yeah, I've been to the Orlando one. People claim that it's 'magical', it isn't. The roller-coasters were fun but I'd never go back, 1: because it was meh and 2: because of what they do to the animals.

With all the controversy about the Orcas, they'd be better off going in the direction their new Orlando coaster Mako sets out in, which is being a theme park, not an aquarium. With the Orlando park, even a world class zoo can't compete in the Florida market against the titans like Disney and Universal next door. No idea about San Diego and the others.

Also, just in case someone doesn't know, I'd like to note that the Busch Gardens parks are also under the Seaworld company.

That's honestly great news that are banned to have anymore orcas, but they are currently allowed to keep the orcas they have right now (until they die). As far as I read the article. But I hope the Orcas there die peacefully, since they can't be transferred to another area or be taken care of all the time.

As for Sea World's future. I kind of doubt they would change into a theme park or anything. If sales are so low, they might as well hang up the coat and quit of plotting to be a striving entertainment park. Since the animal abuse records and the film Black fish, I'm certain a lot of people get the clue that they are cruel people regardless of what they do to a park.

General animal abuse. Cutting their teeth down like trees, barely giving them their space required, putting them in hazardous situations. You know those types of things.

Some people believe that animals don't have feelings since they aren't as "intelligent" as us (either that or they just don't care), so they take advantage of that to gain a profit.

It isn't too far from what they are already doing though. They could definitely try to rebrand themselves as less of animal park and more of a theme park with rides based on the ocean. It may be too late to make any difference, but they can try.

I can guarantee the Blue World project is cancelled in Florida and other Seaworld parks after this. There's no way they'll be spending even more money on a bunch of bigger tanks that will be useless in a couple decades.

I don't think they'd dig themselves into a deeper pit of controversy by capturing killer whales again. They still have a small shot at redemption in the eye of the public if they can think fast and make the right choices, but capturing whales would sink the already badly damaged ship.

If you read the article it's not only that they can't breed more Orcas, it's also that they can't get anymore through other sources too. They cannot trade/sell/buy Orcas as well as breeding them.

Pretty funny you say that since Orcas toss seals into the air and disable them so they can't get away for fun, pretty sure the seal doesn't want to do that.
It can be argued orcas aren't much better than humans.

Nope, some other animals disable and maim for fun as well. Cats are an example, and I won't even go into dolphins.

But two wrongs don't make a right, abusing animals is never right, and even if they're the ones doing it, it's not going to make it okay.

^Exactly. Cats are goddam terrible for the environment and should have their population controlled. 41% of kills for fun.
"in the journal Nature Communications, cats kill between 1.4 billion and 3.7 billion birds and between 6.9 billion and 20.7 billion small mammals"
They shouldn't be let outside for this reason.
