Post-apocalyptic dystopian YA needs more S&M. [CLOSED]

We're all thinking that. We all want Katniss fighting Lord Hummungus and Master Blaster. We want those snot-nosed boys from The Maze Runner in Thunderdome and get their asses kicked by S&M perverts. Maybe Max and Furiosa accidentally drive through that city in Divergent and it's blown up by Immortan Joe and his war boys.

I'm sorry but I just really wanted to get this off my chest. Can you blame me?

I've read YAs that actually tried to put emphasis on violence and being super dark and gory. Needless to say, it's made of random death scenes that are comical in how excessively gory and dramatic they get, and the plot itself just tries to push itself into killing as many non-protagonists as it can get away with to the point it feels pointless since you can guess they'll be the only survivors at the end,if at all, and you have no attachment to anyone.

Falling Kingdoms,if you must know. Stopped at the second book because the 'bad guys find random reason to win' GOT REALLY OUT OF HAND.

I could blame you, but it'd be really hypocritical.

lmao i doubt ya fiction will be able to do s&m. as it is they can't even do a good believable romance without it being really forced in the first book (hence leave the sequels for typical romance drama. see this is why pairings shouldn't happen until the end). heck anything ya novels do now is pretty ****ty. it's actually quite funny how novels considered 'children's fiction' like warriors have better violence and believable romance than teenage fiction.

the hunger games might have been able to involve it well, but i doubt the others will.

I just assumed it was about YA novels being too tame.

And yeah, you're right on children's and children-teenager novels being WAY more mature than those. I still look at my collection of Deltora Quest sometimes and ask myself "how did they allow us to read this when we were 13 again?". Because yeah, let's invoke serious paranoia on kids that every object they have could be a shapeshifting assassin that prefers killing via strangling.

I rather people in gimp masks than snot-nosed kids in dull colours.

P.S. The Fault in Our Stars needs more H.R. Giger at least some tyrannous stars in the sky to defy.

If the snot-nosed kid doesn't go through three relationships in one year (Main protagonist from throne of glass. Its friking stupid) then I'm fine with them. Harry Potter and Katniss are pretty great. But you have to search for these characters really hard apparently.
