Yearly reminder that you can play as any of the 5 versions of Spyro in any of the 5 games. And any other Skylander. So he ain't dead,though his solo series is in limbo.

AND that you can get him and Cynder for SUPER cheap on the used section of game stores because most versions are common. So, people getting the games for the Amiibolanders,you can play as your old friends without having to spend much more.

No,that's Spyro. Hero? Torches bad guys? Purple Dragon? Seriously needs plastic surgery on the nose, but that's a Spyro that I can agree with.

The series might be not with us,but the character is. It's very easy to tighten the nostalgia goggles, but at least younger generations know he exists,and no matter how Acti wants to treat the franchise the two dev teams still give a crap.

The 1998 Spyro ditched all of his friends to become a plastic toy. Same thing with Sparx.

I just played as Spyro in a brand new game that came out today. That's not shabby considering how most iconic video game characters have been absent from any sort of exposure (aside from maybe ports) for years.

Listen, Spyro probably would have died out, and no one would have really done anything with our purple dragon. Actually, Activision kind of saved him. In their own way, of course. Still, they did save our little purple dragon, and without them, he would probably be dead now. Be grateful that a 90's video game character is still alive for the children to have fun and play with today.

spyro isn't dead, he lives on in our hearts ^___^

In all seriousness though if Activision didn't come in we would probably be getting more of TLOS, and I'd rather Skylanders exist than the former since at least Spyro has now gone back to his old personality.

I think when she said the real Spyro, she meant the series.

She said 'him', so it's the character. Unless the series can have a gender,which is news to me.

I'll be honest. I was pissed about Spyro's new look when I first saw him, but I gave Skylanders a chance, loved the games, got used to Spyro's design (though I prefer his old design). Whoever's actually upset about skylanders "ruining" Spyro needs to just be grateful that he's even still around, and give the games a chance if they haven't already.

^I also agree. I was skeptical at first when Skylanders - Spyro's Adventure was revealed. But as I got my hands on a copy after it's release, I can safely say it's pretty decent. Not a smart move from Activision to use him only as a marketing tool. Hence the title. Misleading, but still decent.
And yes. Spyro, our favorite fire-breathing-purple-gecko is still alive. I mean, turn your PS1 on (if anyone today still owns one), and play your purple dragon game. Do you see Spyro on the screen? You like the Original design better? Understandable, I can live with it. In my honest opinion, I equally like ALL the designs for Spyro.

Well, yeah, it's like Crash's case. No one can be happy that someone's sitting on the IP instead of selling it to who could do a good game.

But the character, design or not,isn't dead,and harassing people for liking it is just dumb. Not happening in this thread,but it shows up every once in a while. Again, in my opinion,if Skyro had some face surgery to get a large snout he'd be just perfect - the sillhouette of the head is now a circle and it just clashes with his entire design.

Hard to argue there. But I was referring to whiners who do nothing but complain online 24/7 of how terrible the game is because their childhood is ruined. You don't like the design, that's fine. And yeah, it could need some work though. But that's just me. So...

Man I was gonna type something here, but pretty much everything needed to be said is said.

Though just throwing this out there, perhaps instead of whining you can try to see if you can get into some other series that could use your help (like kick starters) or get into game programming. So maybe you can kick off your own (original) game series the way you want it to be (in the future) so kids of that generation will get the fun/awesome experience you have had with Classic/Legend Spyro games. I mean moping around complaining isn't gonna get you anywhere. You have to pursue something to get your goals.

But being serious, if we're just talking about the character and not the game(s), Spyro is in Skylanders. He may not really be the Spyro that most of us are used to, but he's Spyro nonetheless. Meaning he isn't dead.

I agree 100% with this. I mean, if Crash Bandicoot was a skylander then sure, it won't be as good as the classics but still, He's back, and you can play as him.

Sort've whats Sonics going though too. Most love the classic games, Some liked the modern games, and now, very little like the Boom series. Honestly, I love the boom series and even though I've never played the games, the TV show is awesome.
