Personally, I don't really think I should date at my age. I'm too close to the age of 18, and they're tons of complications around that. Even if someone was my age it would be complicated.

The youngest I'd go is like a year-year and a half. The oldest I'd go is like five years. But I prefer if the guy is older than me.

I don't really like to date. I'd get too tied down. After the last one, I'm too afraid of commitment.

I would say someone the same age as me, but most be people I've wanted to date/wanted to date me have been older than me :V

No one more than a year younger than me though.

Haven't ever really thought about a number as I've only had one significant other. (luv u dc <33) Whenever I would imagine having one before then, I would picture one within a few years of me, though things don't always work the way you imagine and sometimes the range is a little bigger. Although if one were to reach too close to 10 years I'd feel a little weird in regards to being with them.

Right now I would say from 18 to twice my age. As long as the person I’m going out with is interesting.

I don't care about dates. I just don't date.

I'm 22 and I would say the age group from 19 to 24 would be my range. Actually getting a girlfriend is a pipe dream

just generally around my age.

Well I've always said that I've wanted an older guy but everyone bar one person I've liked has been younger than me by a few months so I guess it just depends who the person is. And at the moment being 16 anyone too much older than me would probably be classed as a bit weird tbh.

I prefer the same age. A year younger or older is okay, too.


On the subject, I think environment matters more than age; for example, a freshman and senior in high school may be two or three years apart in age, but they're both in high school, and can therefore share a certain mentality because they're in the same environment. However, one year later, when the freshman becomes a sophomore and the senior goes off to college, the military, or the workforce, the environments will shift dramatically, meaning the mentalities will change, and unless the relationship is strong, there will be some serious strains.


So, consider that.

Both of my relationships were just months younger/older than me though so that probably means something.

New York may have different laws, but here it's technically illegal to have physical contact of any romantic variety with a minor

NY has a hard limit of 17 and there's no Romeo & Juliet laws that claim "oh well it's a 2 year difference so it's ok". Normal contact, dating, and kissing seem to be ok depending on that age gap, but actual sexual contact and acts are a no-no.

*shrug* I never really gave it a thought I suppose. Back in middle school, i felt that relationships were a waste of time and after seeing my friends after they got out of one, i decided I didn't want to have anything to do with them. So I never really thought about them except for the hypocritical nature of watching my crush. But obviously things happen. Seeing how I only have ever had one relationship that is still ongoing (I love you too seiki <333), I can really only base my feelings around that one. Though, I am pretty sure that I can't have a relationship with someone my age because I just have some issue with that for some reason.

Simply because I'm in that range myself. It makes me feel much better already.

I'd say it changes depending on your age. Here's what I personally believe are okay age ranges:
If you are under 12: Why get caught up in romance? Enjoy yourself before you have to deal with the real world.
12-15: Never date anyone more than a year older or younger than you are. I guess it is okay for a little leeway there.
15-17: Two years between at max, obviously due to complications it is probably best to cap at 17.
18-22: Never date below 18, with some exceptions for 17-year olds. Otherwise, anyone within this range should have no problems hooking up with each other.
22-30: You are getting more mature and the differences physically and mentally are becoming less and less, so I'd say up to 6 years difference here.
30+: Date who you want legally (though it might get creepy somewhat).

Though I'm more liable to go with someone younger than older.

Around my age. The youngest I would date would be about a year and a half. Not so sure about how much older though. About 2 years older I guess. And I prefer them to be older than me.
