The watch thing isn't required, it's basically an upgrade to the game that makes it easier to do certain stuff. When playing with the watch, the game becomes "Pokémon Go Plus".

you probably just move your phone around and pokemon will probs just appear in little spots on your camera and you just click "pokeball" or you throw out your own pokemon to fight it or something

but then you'd look like an idiot standing in a hallway or a street seemingly just staring at a picture of the floor or the sidewalk or something

It's like Ingress, it has no microtrasactions. The most you'd have to pay is for the "pro" thing with the bracelet. Its GPS based, and you walk around your city "capturing Pokemon" at certain GPS coordinates.

^Nintendo/TPC did confirm there would be microtransactions.

That's not instantly a bad thing, they can be handled well. Pac-Man 256 is pretty alright with them.

Same, with my luck my favorite Pokemon Gastrodon will no where to be seen.

To quote the old theme
"I will travel across the land, searching far and wide", or in my case looking all over the places I go to in order to find the Pokemon I like. Inb4 I never find Gastrodon.
