It's one thing to try and spread awareness about the obesity issue in America, but that is not the way to do it at all...

I think I can understand the cause she's going at with wanting to raise awareness with obesity and how we shouldn't treat it like just some normal thing when it can majorly affect the health of millions of people worldwide (not just Americans). And quite honestly no I don't think being obese, should be seen as some disability to require particularly special treatment while they also do nothing to improve their lives and instead get worse.
(For the record I refer mostly to people who are actually classified as morbidly obese.)

THAT SAID

Going out and encouraging real shaming is not excusable. Like Boogie's video above said (which opened my eyes to a good few things and is definitely worth the watch), a lot of people who are obese may have other problems affecting their lives which could cause these bad habits.

And frankly such shaming and negative feedback rarely helps someone get better or overcome something. It's more likely to throw them into a deeper pit of despair and hopelessness, which could further feed into the problem or at the very least put any progress to a standstill. People respond better to positive feedback in this field and the feeling that they're making good progress. It's also why a lot of people get disheartened when they feel like they aren't losing that much weight in such short amount of time (which is why many people often quit weight loss programs not long after starting).

And something I feel that makes her argument break down is the annoying and obnoxious humor and attitude she tries to attach to it. This Phil DeFranco style jump cut per second editing can get really grating at times and it doesn't help when she's just not being very funny and is instead seemingly almost picking on fat people and joking at their expense rather than keep the focus on the actual health concern. She also sidetracks a lot to go into some bad joke about being a blonde or whatever. It's not related to the subject and I don't get the point.

You shouldn't be an asshole to fat people you don't even know under the thought that doing so will encourage them to lose weight. The end result she has in mind (people losing weight and being healthy) is an ideal one, but the approach she has seems all wrong and something tells me she wouldn't actually do this in real life anyway.

And larger bone structures do exist so I don't know where she gets off saying "big boned" is not a thing. Though it is an unfortunate problem how some people who are clearly obese and have negative habits use that as some sort of crutch to defend their habits.

Well, this can be said about a lot of attitudes in general CAV. Doesn't matter if the person has good intentions or not,if they're aggressive or huge jerks about it no one's gonna listen - worse, they'll try to find excuses to shout back. You can dislike a lifestyle all you want but shaming others isn't going to solve anything, just fuel your ego.

Pretty much. This is a case of decent end goal but horrible plan and execution. In the end she's not really excused and Boogie has the better argument on how to go about things.

She does have a point about "fat-shaming" being seen the same as racism, sexism, and other forms of bigotry.

THAT BEING SAID, I firmly believe that unless you have the suffix "M.D." after your name, you have no right to judge anyone's body but your own.

Most of the time obesity is ultimately the symptom of a mental disorder (or multiple mental disorders). The solution isn't to attack (or "shame") the symptom, it's to treat the cause. Depression, anxiety disorders, self-loathing, all of those problems feed into each other and will often lead to an unhealthy lifestyle. Sometimes a person might even develop a genuine food addiction, typically because of depression or anxiety.

Unfortunately the U.S. is piss poor when it comes to dealing with mental health. And obesity isn't the only symptom of that. Homelessness, joblessness, random shootings, self-harm among children, high suicide rates, all of those big problems we're having are symptoms of poor mental health in our country.

What do you mean you can't judge their body? If they're 500 pounds, I can judge they're unhealthy. I don't need to be a doctor to know that.

She is much too aggressive in the fashion she tried using to deliver the message but I can see where she's coming from. More often than not, bad eating habits are in one's own control. It can't be purely coincidence that people tend to be larger down south here in the U.S. of A.
