Bumping this because I want to clarify further still what would be considered unacceptable content for the site, as there tends to be confusion around it. Note that I'm gonna be speaking bluntly and there may be some naughty language so if your eyes can't handle that look away.
Mild disclaimer: These matters still remain to the subject of each mod, though at the very least Samius and I are relatively uniform in these ideas going forward. And of course the best course of action if you aren't sure is to contact a mod. However this is to be a sort of guide or rough outline of what may and may not be ok.
IMAGES (and to a good extent videos and gifs)
SEXUAL CONTENT
This is the bigger one to discuss and it's what spawned this thread to be made in the first place. A lot of people may have confusion over what images may or may not be acceptable. Granted we all know from the get go that literal porn and nudity are no-nos here but what about the images that aren't nude or involving sex? What about images that are just some lady or guy posing suggestively with some skin showing?
The thing to remember is that dS has a lower age range overall so there should be some level of personal thought to if the content you're thinking of posting is really ok. I don't want to crack down and get all "IF YOU WOULDN'T SHOW YOUR GRANDMA DON'T POST HERE" because that's stupid. But keep the age range in mind.
Something like

this is relatively acceptable. It's a little suggestive yes but there's nothing explicitly inappropriate just yet. Things like kissing, hugging, light touching, bare chest (for men), cleavage (for women), legs, and so forth are generally acceptable. Even
slight underwear content, but that's going into more borderline territory and I'd recommend asking a mod before posting.
Also if you think the content is going towards a little too raunchy but you feel it's necessary for the discussion at hand, aside from asking a mod themselves about it, it could also be beneficial to just link it rather than posting the image directly, and with a warning. Best example I can think of is if you're discussing Kill La Kill and just
have to show Ryuko in battle armor (though this is a rare example of course).
What isn't acceptable is something that I'm of course not going to show a visual example of. But it should sorta come as no real surprise. Actual sex (of any kind), bare breasts or breasts that are only just barely covered at the nipple (e.g. tassels or stickies), bare genitals or genitals easily visible (e.g. cameltoe or easily visible bumps), outfits that are too revealing, clear and visible groping, bed activity that implies incoming sex, tongue kissing (or at least graphic), bodily fluids, suggestive images that are borderline and were made purely for sexual appeal, and suggestive images that are clear fetish material.
Also if you really
really feel the need to use something suggestive or NSFW as an avatar, crop out the NSFW bits to where we can't see them. If that's not possible, don't bother using it.
BlOOD/GORE
This one is probably easier. It largely boils down to if it's cartoony, mild, graphic, and/or real life. But I'll try to boil it down:
If it's just a little trickle of blood or is clearly supposed to be cartoony and fake (
like so), it's fine both drawing/animated and IRL.
If we're talking actual wounds and somewhat graphic content (e.g. Metallo's snake), it's fine drawing/animated but I would suggest a link or spoiler tag with a warning. IRL I'd consult with a mod if I were you.
And if it's actual gore, extreme amounts of blood, organs, wounds that reach the bone or nerves, very graphic cartoon/anime gore, and of course actual real life corpses, don't bother. It's over the line.
LANGUAGE
This is easy. Tag it with a warning for language. Otherwise it's mostly fine in S&N (don't go posting AVGN episodes in the Skylanders section please).

TEXT
SEXUAL CONTENT
This one's been happening a lot lately I've noticed. This one is a bit more straightforward though. Sexual innuendo, discussions, or merely words like "boobs" or "penis" are fine and we're not gonna run around suspending people for making a sexual joke. This is mostly fine.
However, blatant graphic sexual descriptions or sexual acts in RP are tiptoeing over the line and should be avoided. I'm fairly sure in the RP section the mods have rules against ERP (erotic roleplay) and S&N isn't going to be that much different. Things are mostly acceptable and fine until you get to that point.
Also I would ask that you tone down any innuendo or suggestions regarding you and a minor please and thank you. It's just kinda iffy.
BLOOD/GORE
Same deal as above. Don't go graphic in your description of things. Saying someone got their arm chopped off is fine but you don't need to explain every last graphical detail about how.
LANGUAGE
Most bits of language are usually caught by the filter but if a word is considered a slur or swear and isn't, I'd ask you please don't use it. Also don't try to bypass the filter as that's also breaking the rules.

This is largely a rough outline and it can definitely be expanded upon with questions.
