Too bad he can't escape from that wheelchair.


Seriously though, this is kind of big news......So.....Yeah. Just rewriting the laws of astrophysics here.

While jokes on disabilities are considered taboo, I find nothing morally wrong with doing it if the victim does it.

Hawking's stellar sense of humor is very well documented, and he's laughed at himself on a number of occasions. Therefore, I give not a single bother what the dS community has to say about that.

the joke was rather tasteless and unnecessary BUT putting that aside

This is huge news!
Though I do wonder about what exactly he meant when he said that the information coming out was too chaotic and useless (a bit more detail would be nice)

All I have to say about the joke is that robotics and neurology are not Hawking's field so he wouldn't be able to get out of the chair himself.

Otherwise I'm surprised Hawking believes in the multiple universe/parallel universe theory.

perhaps with this new information the human race could escape the death of the universe by slipping into another one by using black holes in the future.

I'm not sure if I buy the bit about getting sucked in and popping up in another universe, or another part of our universe. If not even light can escape, it seems like we'd be broken down into subatomic particles and scattered.

But I don't know. I'm not the award-winning physicist here.
