Make some changes on Affirmative Action
Actually ****ing do something about ISIS
Fire basically everybody
Increase Border Security
Tighten Immigration Laws
Change the Common Core Education System to something new
Stop making Executive Orders ( A lot of things on this list wouldn't happen if it wasn't for this )
Marriage a State Decision, not government decision
Stop spending so much money
Stop spying on citizens.
Become better allies with UK, China, Israel, etc.
Leave Cuba alone
Use tortue if necessary

Change the voting system. The current First Past the Post and Electoral College systems we have in place are awful, led to the two party system we have today, and discourage a lot of people from wanting to vote because "what difference does my vote make?".

Put more restrictions on surveillance programs both domestic and abroad. No spying unless without a seriously justified reason and warrant that the person in question can be a national threat.

While I think this one is an inevitability at this point (and in some ways it already exists), make it that sexual orientation is protected under equal opportunity laws for employment (akin to race, gender, religion, etc).

That's all I got for now.

EDIT: I tried to keep this in the context of actual laws. But if we're talking about just what I would do in general, I would also:

Reduce military spending to an extent; focus more on domestic defense.
Dramatically increase funding to NASA and other scientific organizations.
Overhaul college loan system and put strict regulations to help put an end to for-profit schools.

I hope you do realize that something is being done about ISIS, which is why they're crumbling. Not to mention that they're no where as organized as Al-Qaeda.

And what do you mean by the second thing?

He thinks that the individual states should have been able to decide whether or not to allow same sex marriage, rather than having it be decided on a federal level.

... but the entire problem with the issue was because of the decision being restricted to the state level. I mean I guess what they could have done was ensure that every marriage in any state had to be recognized by all other states, even if those states wouldn't allow same-sex marriages to occur within their own borders. Would that really have been all that much better, though? Why should we wait for discrimination to end state by state by state? I personally think having everyone join the present century as being a good thing.

Sort of.
Now marriage is a federal decided issue, which could lead to the government changing states different rules/age limits etc. aka. how America should be.
I'm not necessarily talking about same-sex marriage, I'm just against States having less power

Lmao this pissed too many people off. It's a point I made, and I'll state why again.

"Some people have no other way of earning money. They might of dropped out of high school because of a life problem, or they were just plain out stupid, and they need to get a little money to better the life of their family. It's similar to being a porn star. The only real differences are that you get payed much less and you aren't filmed."

What are you talking about? We've been ordering air strikes on them. In the past two months, more than one high-ranking ISIS officer was killed by U.S. air strikes, along with several regular combatants.

And that's only what they've reported. We've probably got the CIA Special Activities Division and tons of SOCOM operators (definitely Tier One teams) over there right now, performing raids on compounds and undertaking espionage missions. Only a fraction of that ever reaches civilian ears.

If by "doing something" about them, you mean mobilizing and deploying the regular armed forces and engaging in conventional warfare, that's a terrible idea. That's where we screwed up in Iraq, Afghanistan, and, to an extent, Vietnam. Fighting guerrilla terrorist organizations requires specialized counter-terrorism operators. The regular personnel in the armed forces (e.g. infantry and armor) are not trained to deal with that kind of threat and it would only end in needless bloodshed.

Keeping in mind I can't make the laws unless I'm a dictator, I'd try to push for...

1. Requiring candidates for public office to pass a rigorous "Constitutional Aptitude Test" or CAT. Doctors need the USMLEs, lawyers need the bar exams, etc. So why the hell are the people who are going to write and debate our laws and publicly policy allowed to be elected when it is abundantly clear some of them lack a basic knowledge of the documents that govern our country? They would be tested on both US law and the laws and legal procedures of the state they're claiming to be a resident of. Yes, I imagine this would not be looked favorably upon but I think it's pretty much necessary with such political fragmentation.

2. No more elections for state/county judges. Like federal judges they would be nominated by state and local executives and confirmed for lifetime terms by legislatures. Valuable taxpayer dollars are wasted on these shams and they happen much too often.

3. Eliminate legislative-controlled redistricting and have it handled by private, non-government affiliated organizations (preferably one helmed by statisticians and actuaries and the like). I'm tired of both parties shifting Congressional Districts so they can have favorable election results. The hope would be to make elections more contested and force candidates to actually focus on serious issues.

4. Greater support for the State of Israel. They are in a very hostile situation and while the international community may raise a few eyebrows, they are a crucial ally in the region. Furthermore, Americans of Jewish faith are targets of anti-Semitism on the sole basis of Israel's actions with regards to Palestine. Which is unacceptable, in my opinion.

5. Eliminate Common Core. The data clearly indicates our educational standing with regards to the rest of the world has fallen utilizing this system. I don't exactly have a good idea as to what should replace, but I DO know we should reduce the amount of testing we subject students do (ESPECIALLY standardized testing) and instead incentivize schools that place a priority on more hands-on learning.

There's probably more, but I can't think of it. Besides, Amercia's more likely to elect a Hispanic President than one who's openly Jewish. >.>

Obviously, as others have stated, the president holds no power to make laws willy-nilly - that is a dictatorship. But if I did have those powers I would do the following things:
- Legalize Marijuana and Prostitution
- Make firing people for sexual orientation illegal
- Eliminate private healthcare systems that profit off the backs of hurting Americans and introduce a single-payer National Healthcare system that can match the countries of Northern Europe
- Going with the above: make Healthcare a Constitutional Right
- Eliminate student debt by making colleges tuition free.
- Make the discrimination of business for racial, religious, gender-based, or sexuality-based traits illegal
- Limit contributions to political candidates to ~5-10K to end the flood of corporation-sponsored special interest politicials
- Guide the limiting of Wall Street big banks; banks too big to fail should not exist
- Work to preserve more natural land as National Parks; expand the current National Parks and make new ones to encompass historical and important natural areas
- Use incentives/penalties to slowly discourage the use of dangerous industrial practices that negatively affect the environment and encourage the use of clean energy sources
- Raise the minimum wage to $14-17 an hour
- Loosen border control; there are better ways to waste money
- End the NSA and make privacy a Constitutional Right
- End torture facilities like Guantanamo Bay and grant all people - even terrorist suspects - their Constitutional Rights as prisoners
- Decrease Military spending; the main focus of Military spending should be defense and we should be less war-happy then we already are
- Dissolve the Common Core Education Standards - try to make standardized tests limited and guide education to focus more on learning than scores
- Make more of the taxes forced upon the rich: I understand many of the changes I am making require more government money that will have to be taxed but I would prefer that the upper class take most of the heat
- Increase gun control (background checks, testing for potentially dangerous mental illnesses, proper training) while officially encouraging [responsible] gun ownership
- Make illegal a pay gap between equally working and experienced people of different ethnicity, genders, of sexualities

I probably forgot some things and I'm sorry if I opened up a can of worms here. I don't want to argue, I just was putting my opinions out there.

well i mean a president them self doesn't really have that much political power but assuming this is more "how would you change the government"

-completely reshape the government system to eliminate the possibility of a two-party system in any part of the government by reassigning political power to 3 groups: an elective executive power (i.e. president), an elected group of officials that vote on issues (i.e. senate/house of representatives), and a direct democratic system where literally every citizen over 18 can vote on a bill or law and the decision to pass or not pass a bill or law is determined through what a majority of elected officials vote, what a majority of citizens vote, and what the executive power votes, meaning there's always a 3 different votes, no ties, and the power in the end is always controlled by the people.

-ban "political donations" as the corruption and blackmail that they are

-cut military spending and downsize the military to create a smaller, flexible, cheaper, and more efficient national defense

-rid ourselves of any involvement with israel

-enact a decent human rights bill to be the absolute supreme law to fall back on and that all other laws must agree to that requires all humans to be treated equally in the eyes of the law, preserve your right to live with complete freedom of thought and respect privacy, and establish that you have complete bodily autonomy and no one has any legal right to force you to do anything to or with your body without your expressed consent, regardless of if you're a minor or not

-end the war on drugs and legalize marijuana, reduce drug possession charges to a misdemeanor and charge people guilty of possession with community service or rehab without prison sentences

-ban prisons for profit and reduce sentencing for practically everything, restructure prisons to function as ways to actually help people become citizens again as opposed to government mandated time-out chairs

-fix the educations system to make standardized tests be used for nothing more than information gathering about the effectiveness of schools and make them much less common, restructure the system to make school about enjoying learning how and why things happen, as opposed to cramming information to regurgitate during tests. make grading effort-based instead of talent based.

-make all public colleges and universities completely free for all students, but greatly increase the educational standards to be admitted.

-establish a guaranteed wage for everyone by the government right above the poverty line, and in the process completely remove welfare, disability, etc, as they will be entirely unnecessary and we'll in fact save money by doing this.

-change the inheritance tax to take everything more than a total of $1,000,000 (adjustable for inflation) in value to stop dynasty billionaires.

-background checks and required rigorous safety courses for firearm purchases and gun owners

-large taxes on all big businesses that sale any product in the country (no more moving company headquarters to india to escape taxes)

-offer smaller tax breaks to companies willing to push technological advancement and raise national standards in technology (faster internet speeds, space travel, etc.)

-create laws to split up monopolies

-finance and support decent sex education for students

-require vaccines for to be admitted to public schooling and public colleges/universities

-minimum wage that automatically updates for inflation
