I'm recording "audio books" (request stuff for me to read) [CLOSED]

While discussing my fruitless efforts at job hunting, a friend (who shall remain nameless) suggested that I record audiobooks and the like. Mulled it over a bit and also asked a few others (who also approved) and so here I am. I have no real idea on how I'd go about commissions or whatnot or if I would even really attempt profit, so this is all just a practice run for the time being.

Firstly it's worth asking is if you people think I have what it takes to do such a thing. Ignore mic quality issues (because I know they're a thing); on the most basic level, do I have the voice and clarity to do such?

Secondly, with this all in mind, I'm taking requests for various "audiobooks". I'm probably not about to record a full book or War and Peace or whatever, but otherwise I can and will read anything you request (fanfics, Wikipedia articles, certain chapters, etc.). All that I ask is that you keep it PG-13; if I can't record and post it on here without breaking any rules, it may be best not to request it here. This includes that book.

And before someone calls this trend jumping, this is something that was discussed before Sess made his thread.

Sounds neat~

If you plan on making money off of them though, you may want to look into it more 'cause there are probably some copyright issues with that.

You sound like a weatherman for some reason. I'm impressed on how you did that with no stutter though.

^I choose to record multiple takes until I get it flawless. Any stutters or skips are vocaroo not playing nice with my microphone.

Any requests?

I think you would do very well with the "audio books" You do have the voice that would keep someone interested in what you were saying. Your words were well spoken, clear and to the point. (yes I know you were reading an article) If this is what you might consider doing, then go with it.

This was only my opinion but you're the one that has to make the decision if you want to do this.

I've already done a chapter of 50 Shades of Grey in the past and shared in group.

Seriously, I think this would would be a good career for you CAV!

I was gonna jokingly say 50 Shades, but I see I've been beaten to it. If you're looking for serious books to record, I'd recommend Ready Player One. It's a GREAT book and ought to be fun to read!

I've already done bits of 50 Shades anyway.

I wouldn't really go for calling this a career. More temporary work/a hobby that I could maybe do commissions for while continuing job hunting.

I once looked into recording for audiobooks myself. It doesn't pay well iirc and it's a bit tough to get into in the first place, really. Let me know if it works out for you, though.

I actually have the second book in the series.
