Kill La Kill is the only series I recognized in that article. I read about halfway through before feeling completely lost and giving up.

So from what I'm getting this is supposed to be a crazy comedy series that's focused more on laughs than trying to be super serious and brooding with angst?

Also one bad show doesn't mean an entire country's industry is trash, or that the entire year is lost.

I've been watching it just to see how ridiculous it gets and I can't even, like who came up with the story for it, it's just so stupid. The cat is creepy with it's cat porn that it always has on it's computer and seeing too much of panties being the end up the world via explosion... just why?

For this season, Plastic Memories (a feels-packed sci-fi drama based around "Terminal Services" for androids, basically undertakers who retrieve androids on the verge of expiring) and The Heroic Legend of Arslan (middle eastern political drama epic).
Earlier in the year, the second cour of Yona of the Dawn was extremely good, and Log Horizon 2 was good.
I don't watch most more mainstream anime, just like finding dark horses or obscure gems. Yona of the Dawn is getting more popular I hear though, which is good, it deserves it.

I know, but still, this is rather over the top even for anime standards. The year isn't lost by any means, even if this season feels lacking, bar the two aforementioned series.

If we're on the topic of this season's anime and attack on titan, Seraph of the End is p much AoT but with vampires and cooler character designs.

Literally the only reason I want ouran season 2 is so I can see Tamaki revealing that his first name is actually Rene animated. 10/10 best name.

Attack on Titan is overrated, too. >__>

Tbh though I think Attack on Titan deserves the fame. It's a good anime. It has always annoyed me how anime like Bleach, Naruto, Fairy Tail, etc has been so popular and considered the anime that people watch first, is main stream, etc. I feel that Attack on Titan gives anime a better name than the 'big 5' do, since it's actually a good anime. It also proves that anime doesn't need fan service to be popular, so there's also that too. The only thing I don't like about it is that I'm kind of annoyed by the main characters now and I'm not a fan of Erin. And also the ones I do like aren't popular (only one I like who is popular is Levi). I wish Armin, Zoe and Jean got more noticed by the fandom. So yeah it's pretty much the fanbase that annoys me, like in every freaking fandom.

I watch mostly lesser-known, smaller-fandom shows, the experience can be much better.

Too bad Fullmetal Alchemist ended.

That's ok, I don't know a thing about anime outside the advertisements I see for Toonami and the knowledge that FUNimation dubs a lot of stuff and people either love 'em or hate 'em. So, I know less than nothing. ^.^b

I absolutely love Attack on Titan, and I think it deserves the praise. The animation and story are fantastic. The fanbase does get on my nerves though, seeing as all of them are so obsessed with Levi that they go so far as petition to replace Armin with him in the official merchandise.

I wish Armin, Sasha, Connie, and Hanji got more love tbh

^ It annoys me how Sasha seems to be officially known as 'Potato girl' by the fanbase. She was seen eating a potato once. She's never seen eating a potato again.

It's like how Akashi from Kuroko no Basket is known as some 'scissors boy' by the fandom and nearly every artwork of him shows him holding red scissors despite he only used scissors to attack someone once, and even then he only borrowed them. He was never seen with scissors again.

And omg are you serious!?! Fans are actually trying to replace Armin merchandise with Levi!?!? -__-
i've always thought that no fandom can be worse than the durarara fandom (and homestuck fandom for that matter), but aot fandom seems to actually be worse if it's effecting freaking merchandise (I have noticed that with merchandise it seems to now be Erin, Mikasa, Levi and 'the blond guy/that other guy').

It's not really fans, it's the merch and ads people. The way it goes is Mikasa>Eren>Levi>Everyone else> Armin. Sometimes Eren first, sometimes Levi first but Armin is still the forgotten child. That's how it was with the Nendoroids, Armin being made last. With Figmas, he didn't even get a full release and was exclusive. Plus, most ads don't even show him and decided that Levi is cooler.
The aot fandom can do amazing things, but yeah it can be annoying. However, it's like that with all fandoms TBH. The fans are who choose what gets merch basically. If it's a fan favorite and the company acknowledges it, they will make merch of the character.

I still love Attack on Titan a lot, but I admit I don't love it as much as I used to due to the tumblr side of the fandom. It also annoys me that Marco gets more attention than Mikasa, Armin and even Eren sometimes and Marco wasn't even a main character. And quite a lot of fans still come up with theories saying that Marco isn't dead even when Isayama confirmed that Marco is actually dead. But yeah, I do think that Attack on Titan does deserve all of the praise that it gets as well, because it is actually a good anime with a really interesting plot, an epic soundtrack, beautiful animation and likable characters. Plus it doesn't have any fan service either and it's hard to find anime without any fan service in it, like DarkCynder said. The only thing I dislike about AoT is the stupid fandom- it gets on my nerves so much and I even feel embarrassed about wearing my AoT t-shirt in public because of how dumb the fandom is.
