If you have not seen the movie Carrie or read the book, you may not be able to understand the story that I'm writing.

Okay. So I'm writing this fanfiction of an alternate version of Carrie. It's not necessarily an alternate universe of Carrie, but rather, alternate events.
So this is what I have of the first chapter of my story. I'd like to know what you think, and yes, I am open for suggestions. Just please don't be mean about it, but don't sugarcoat it, either.
Also, I have just finished reading the book, but it's been a long time since I've seen the 2013 version of the movie. So please don't be too harsh. Thank you! smilie

Everyone remembers Carrie White. The one girl who had red pimples on her face and had a mother who was crazy-obsessed about Jesus. Something along those lines.
Being a junior student, I myself haven't heard much about Carrie except for the things people have mentioned about her at school. I was the type of person who preferred to just keep to herself and not get involved in anything too crazy.

I have attended a few of the same classes as Carrie. However, we never talked much, if at all. She looked like the kind of person who was just quiet and reserved.

What got me confused was when people made fun of her. They even made attempts to trip her over in the hallways. Yes, I have seen it happen here and there, but I thought they were just joking around with her at the time.

I was proven wrong when the incident at the locker room happened. This wasn't just a joke. This was like terrorism on one clueless girl who didn't know she was bleeding from down below until Sue Snell mentioned it to her.

I was there when it happened. We were in the locker room, cleaning up to look decent for our next class, until some girl in the room noticed blood washing with water on the floor. I saw it, too, but I assumed that maybe someone got a razor cut by accident while shaving.

I was proven wrong when a crowd of girls started gathering around in one specific area of the room. I finished rinsing my hair and made my way over to the crowd to see what was going on.

At first, the girls started out nice and helpful, but Carrie still had a look of cluelessness on her face. The girls tried mentioning to her that she was on her period. But Carrie still looked at them stupidly, as if they were speaking another language from some other planet.

As soon as Sue Snell told Carrie, "For God's sake, Carrie, you're bleeding!!" that's when she began to freak. Carrie had a look of panic on her face and started screaming for help, yelling out that she was bleeding to death.

The chanting began, repeating the words "Plug it up!" and soon enough, the crowd began to throw tampons and pads at her. Carrie was cowering in a corner, still screaming and crying out for help.

I had enough of the crowd terrorizing the poor girl, so I shoved my way through and stood in front of Carrie defensively, my arms straight out on both sides.

"For God's sake! What is wrong with you people?!" I screamed. "Why throw these... these... THINGS, at her?!" I even picked up a soaking wet sanitary pad and showed it to the girls. I wasn't sure if they would realize that their actions were wrong, but I wanted to give them an idea of what they were doing.

"What the hell? Anna Darson, is it?" Chris Hargensen said. "Why are you siding with that pig? It's her fault for not knowing what a period is! Come here and convince her that she's wrong!"

"No. What reason in your right mind do you have to tell me why I should join you in your sick ritual, with Carrie as your little target? Tell me, how is she wrong for not knowing what a period is?!" I was furious. I don't know if they had noticed the look of pure anger on my face, but all of them seemed amused by it. Except for one, who had a look of sad regret on her face.

I turned my head over to Carrie, who was staring at me with a confused but surprised look on her face. I wasn't sure if she was happy and grateful that one decided to rebel against the crowd, or if she was assuming that I was planning something devious.

"What is going on here?" a voice growled. "And why are there tampons and pads on the floor? Can someone please explain this?"

Everyone turned their heads over to Miss Desjardin, who had a look of fury and disappointment on her face. Knowing her facial expressions, she wasn't too happy with what she had heard. I faced the gym teacher and said, "These girls were throwing feminine things at Carrie."

Chris Hargensen glanced at me with a dirty look, but I didn't care. I just didn't like to see a person being pushed around.

Miss Desjardin was silent for a few moments before saying, "I want everyone to finish up in the shower. After that, you all have some serious explaining to do. Some VERY serious explaining."

After the crowd disassembled, I turned over to Carrie, who was trembling, and looked at her. "Hey. Are you alright? Do you want me to take you to the nurse?"

Carrie blinked and stared at me for a moment or two before saying, "Am I bleeding to death? What's happening to me?"

I looked at her sympathetically. "No, you're not bleeding to death. You're alright." I looked around to check and see if there were any other people around, before whispering to Carrie, "Is this your first period?"
"I don't know what that is," Carrie answered bluntly.
"Here. Let me help you up. We'll ask Miss Desjardin if she'll let me take you to the nurse. Just get one of the pads from the dispenser there, put it on your underwear, and get your clothes on, alright?" I held out my hand for Carrie to take, and when she took it, I helped her back up to her feet and picked up her clothes and pad before escorting her to one of the bathroom stalls.

While I was waiting for Carrie to come out of the bathroom stall, I saw Miss Desjardin arrive in the locker room. She looked at me with concern and worry. "Anna Darson? Everything alright here?" she asked.
"Yes," I answered. "Carrie just had her first period. Is it alright if I can take her to the nurse?"
The gym teacher thought for a few moments before saying, "Yes. But you'll have to have me with you. I haven't created hall passes yet."
After saying a thank-you to Miss Desjardin, Carrie came out of the bathroom stall fully clothed.
"Come with us, Carrie," I said. "We'll take you to the nurse. You'll be fine, don't worry."
