Actually, only Link's is coloured like pee.

Other character in Wave 1 and 2 have clear ones. And some are coloured (Zelda's is purple, for example).

Some characters just have coloured stands as a stylistic choice.

Also I disagree that Skylanders do "so much more". Skylanders is compatable with one game franchise, Amiibo are compatable with multiple. The combined effects of these Amiibo justifies the price enough for me, and their uses become more varied over time.

^If you look behind Link in the second photo, you can see that other characters have yellow in their base (at least Marth, Peach, and DK).

The yellow isn't universal though. And it doesn't really mean anything. The difference in colour was just a stylistic thing. Just happened to look bad with Link. Zelda's purple fits her though, as doe Fox and Pit having a blue stand. Then others just have a clear stand.

I think I would've slightly preferred a universal grey look though. Especially because of how characters like Link look bad.

I don't own a wii u/3ds (but i want a 3ds for christmas), but i might buy a greninja, wii fit trainer, and villager. it sucks they can't be used inside the box tho.

I'm REALLY wanting a new Metroid game so that Ridley or Kraid can get a Amiibo figure, that'd be pretty cool to see.

Maybe they could even unlock Brinstar Depths and Frigate Orpheon for Smash Wii U as DLC Stages (Wishful thinking detected)

I'm honestly surprised an Olimar Figure hasn't come out yet, I guess the Pikmin would be pretty breakable, they might be trying to fix that, or they are working on some content for Pikmin 3 or Pikmin Short Movies HD.

Yeah I heard that too. Good news, since it's been confirmed Europe is getting the third wave earlier than the US too (on January 23rd, while US gets them in February. Wave 4 is coming to EU in February too, but I can't remember the date).

I went to Nintendo World earlier today and they had the first wave of amiibo in a glass casing. Having seen them up in person, I feel like I should retract some of my statements. They actually look good for a first attempt. Link, Marth, and other humanized characters have the potential to have derped faces, but the others look pretty damn solid. Worth noting though that all amiibo have that yellow base similar to Link (at least the first wave), not the silver like we were first shown.

Fox and Samus looked the best to me, looking almost like tiny collector's figures. Fox looks to have had a fair bit of effort put into getting the details of his outfit right, and Samus' armor has a nice finish that makes it look more like just a simple McDs toy like they could've gotten away with. My only complaint would be that Fox has a blue thingy holding up his left foot (similar to Link's pee-colored stick, or the clear plastic of some others), which clashes with the yellow base.

They looked presentable. Not sure if they're the actual production figures or just really nice prototypes made specifically for show, but I'm reasonably impressed. Still not quite sure if it's worth $13, however, given the current uses they have. Some photos are here. Please excuse any bad shots.

I'm considering making a trek to Nintendo World for the first time when I'm back near NYC. I might snag Kirby and Yoshi, because they're adorable characters and I have a small collection of memorabilia related to them. Otherwise, I'm still gonna wait to see what goes on. <.<;

Stood in line for 7 hours for the triple launch event and got myself a Fox amiibo. Will speak full thoughts later on when I'm not as tired and I actually open it.

Looks pretty great from what I see so far though. No wrong details or errors. I think I made the right choice.

Got Fox last night and I have to say that I'm very impressed with how it turned out. The amount of detail on it is astounding, and there are very few (if not no) errors or problems on it. Around his jacket there are indications of glue but it's to be expected. The figure is practically like a mini collectible.

My only real complaint is that the targeting reticle is a solid green as opposed to a transparent green like the promo art (and possibly the prototype figure?) has. It would've been really nice for it to be transparent, but I'm still impressed.

While he's far from the best of the bunch, he seems like he definitely looks quite a bit better in person than that previous picture showed.

I have a Fox Amiibo and I think he looks fantastic. He has a good detail(has a lttle Star Fox logo on his jacket and his holster) but has a few little paint splotches. His jacket looks like a seperaate piece which is nice and his blue stand isn't really that noticeable and he feels very nice. I might panel line him though. Hell he even has zipper teeth. He has a tiny red dot on his scouter which could either be a paint scratch or detail of him using it.

I got myself a Kirby amiibo along with smash. Looks great, though it's pretty hard to miss details with a design as simple as Kirby's. Though now I have it at level 50 with a bunch of fed equipment and now it's impossible for me to beat it. I have to put the game on a team battle just so it doesn't kick my butt.
