Ah yes, know the feeling, just got back into anime myself recently on a whim (starting with Noein), have like half a dozen series I need to finish watching or rewatching.

A good bridge for anyone wanting to cross the bridge from cartoons to anime would be Big O, which admittedly can be a bit slow, but takes some major cues from western animation. At least that's what brought one person I know into anime. But like I said, Noein is what dragged me back in.

Noein, Last Exile, and Code Geass are what truly got me into the genre. And Last Exile, Big O, and Gundam Wing are what got a younger member of my family into it as well.
Currently addicted to Steins;Gate, Fafner: Dead Aggressor (I switched from dub to sub and now I love it so much more, it could've been a masterpiece but, failing that, is still pretty good), and Serial Experiments Lain. Though also still going through Last Exile, Gundam 00, Big O, and thinking of picking up some others, along with rewatching Noein, this time subbed.

Hetalia is awesome. Italy is adorable. Nuff said.
