The 14 year old girl is obsessed with internet writings of Slender Man and read an online book called Soul Eater. After an earlier argument with her mother, she set her family's house on fire while her mother and 9-year old brother were asleep. No one was injured and got out unharmed, but the girl is charged with arson and counts of attempted murder. This is the second news incident involving Slender Man. She also wrote about the two girls who tried to kill their classmate in their attempt to impress Slender Man.

Her text message to her mother after the incident - "Mom Im so sorry I dont know why I did it."

Now there's a difference here... On the actual article, it actually says "an online ebook about soul eaters", not "Soul Eater", the manga and anime. Sorry, but I just wanted to point out that capitalizing it makes it sound like the actual anime series.

Anyway... Now to my real point...

This is seriously messed up... This is called taking an obsession too far. Young girls are influenced by so many things nowadays, and when you become entirely obsessed with such a touchy subject like Slender Man, then things can go horribly wrong. Also, not to sound mean, but there is probably something mentally unstable with these girls. Either that, or they are just trying to get attention.

Other sources say Soul Eater, an online book involving souls, killing, and it's "a series of anime books about a living scythe and a weapon meister,". So it's definitely Soul Eater.. :/

This is completely barbaric. Someone should not worship Slender Man enough to burn down a house or stab a classmate. I wonder what the point of it is. Children need to ace reality, their imaginations get the best of them. Their minds are weak. We shouldn't expose them to creepypastas such as Slenderman.

Honestly soul eaters comedy part is toned down severely as the story progresses though. It has demons, people eating souls, and people being consumed by madness

Still, towards the end of the series, when Lord Death uses this super ultimate attack, that is just "table flip", it's kinda funny.

I still wanna know why these kids are even looking at creepypasta...
Are they really this ignorant to believe well-known fictional characters really do exist? I mean, if they were real, I'm pretty sure the world would be a lot more ****ed up than it already is.
That being said, to those who think they're just blaming Slenderman and everything as an excuse to commit the crime, that could possibly be the reason. But honestly I feel like if you're sick enough to be willing to try and kill someone or burn your own house down, it's very possible that they really do think these characters are real. Murderers and the like aren't exactly right in the head to begin with, and creepypasta probably tainted their minds even more. I also blame the parents, really. I wanna know where they were when their kids were looking at this stuff. When I was in my adolescent ages, my parents still had the freaking parental controls on which sites I could and couldn't visit. Do they just not care anymore (or maybe my parents cared too much)?

I dunno... it's pretty sad that stuff like this is happening... And what makes it sadder is the kids' reasoning behind it.
