Why do people get rid of their avatars, GB, sig, and lock their pages? It's just stupid because you end up returning just a week later and have to restart everything.

Because they expect to actually leave.
They want to get rid of any history they can.

So people know when they see that they have no avatar, sig, etc. that they are no longer active. Idk.
