Not exactly
Primal can mean violent so they really just became a more powerful and violent form.

I can't help but look at those yellow things in its body.

They look as if they are electric, which has me wondering if Primal Kyogre becomes a Water/Electric type in Primal Form.

It actually makes sense if you think about it because Kyogre causes storms, which often involve lightning. See where I'm going with this yet?

Also, it would help even out Groudon and Kyogre, as Groudon in its Primal Form is a Ground/Fire type, which is 4x weak to Water type attacks.
(2x if you count Groudon's ability, Drought)

Ground type attacks are 2x effective to Electric type Pokémon, so Groudon would actually be able to defend itself from Kyogre even more.

This is all just theorizing and wishful thinking, but when I look at those yellow things in Primal Kyogre, I just think electric.

hmm my theory on primal forms is that Groudon and Kyogre had lain dormant for so long that they had lost some of their power and arent as strong as they were originally. De-evolution reverts them to what they were in their prime possibly. This could b a way to explain why normal pokemon can compete with them and why they can actually b caught. Makes some sense if u think about it o.O most legendaries were in active until humans woke them up lol we could b seeing more primal pokemon in the future

The people called the process of them "absorbing" this power "Ancient Reversion" (official english translation) so it is more a riversion into a primal form instead of a mere devolution.

That doesn't necessarily prove or disprove anything, as we still know very little about Primal Groudon and Kyogre.

Remember how people didn't think there would be new Mega Evolutions? Yeah.

Even official sites can make mistakes, or they might have decided to not reveal Primal Kyogre's second type.

Not saying it has one, but it's still possible regardless of what that says until we see in game confirmation.

Further details have been revealed about the Pokémon, Mega Sableye. It is confirmed that Mega Sableye retains its Dark/Ghost-type, but rather than keep any of the abilities, it gets the ability Magic Bounce. It has increased Defense and Special Attack stats, but decreased Speed. During battle, Mega Sableye shelters itself behind the jewel, from where it can take advantage of any openings its target leaves exposed.

A little bit of surfing found me 2 videos with little, but still more information. We can see an almost full battle scene with the Primal devolutions and the camera fully rotating.

For some reason, I can't copy the video's URLs, so I'll just paste the article itself where I found them.

The idea included in Pokeon Glazed that the Elite Four have teams based on colors rather than types, while it has near to no possibilities, is an idea that truly had a moment of shine in my head. With this concept, the teams would all be mixed and it would actually be more of a challenge.
