Maybe there's a second quest? Otherwise I'll keep buying windmills and aquariums, which give better exp...

Make sure you are maxing out the Aquarium before you add a second Windmill. Aquariums are clearly the better choice.

Second quest is collect 14 telescopes for 3000XP reward - meh!!!

Edit: telescopes not logbooks! Same difference though, still meh!

Aquariums max out at 15. I have an island full of them. Why? Because I can no longer have an island full of Taverns. Age is catching up to me and it seems healthier to stare at fish tanks than to keep drinking. Please don't judge me.

Yeah, the Water Shrine timed quest for the Aquarium was what sold me on it. They seem to be upping the rewards for a lot of stuff and XP doesn't really cut it...

Exactly. That's the only reason I bought an aquarium at this time. If the Obs. had been a magic shrine or something, I'd have bit.

Same here. I bought a second aquarium because I fell behind in collecting it and wanted to be sure to get that shrine.

I still have an island of taverns and an island of fisheries, and also an island of shrines (which also has all of my houses) and an island of adventure balloons....

Sadly, I realized that I had forgotten about the quest and never placed the decorations needed to finish the quest. When I saw the water shrines on sale, yesterday, I was debating on buying a couple (since I only have 1), so the one from the quest would give me a 4th. Then I realized that this past week flew by faster than I thought and I didn't finish the quest

Doh! That sucks Obi. I held off too, but was so paranoid about doing the same thing, I checked it like 5x a day. I wound up buying 2 at full price on the final day.

I realize we sort of shifted to Aquariums--But thought this Observatory thread might be a good place to reference we got another quest. this time to HAVE the observatory.

Shades-wearing sheep topiary? I've not been able to buy any kind of sheep topiary (too low a level??) so i don't know if this one is the same as what most others have

It is the same as the normal Sheep Topiary. I'm surprised you're too low in level, as it's one of the earlier decorations available. Did you lose your game and have to start over?

Well, we started over in May...but neither hubby nor I have seen a sheep topiary in the store. I just assumed it was a higher level decoration--I've heard (read?) people talking about them, but like I said--hadn't seen one. we are level 39 and mare saving up for a wood stack house

That stinks. They were a kudos item that actually were worth visiting friends for. I have 100 (max) of them = 10K energy every 4 hours. And now that Beatrix collects from them they are much less of a pain.

oh...we don't visit. Never have, prolly never will--in fact our age is 7 years old so it isn't even an option for us--we don't have any of the quests or prizes associated with trading either. We thought about changing it but when we lost our game and then reading here that visiting is chance-y at best--we were good with our decision

Umm you could change your age and only visit Aura , your fake but very safe friend . Thats what i do . If you buy companion Batterson you can get 7 kudo,s daily and can purchase a sheep topiary once a week .

Harvesting from Aura,s kingdom makes for a nice mini game too .

You don't have to visit to get kudos. You can just send/receive gifts that include kudos, gems and wish stones.

I just flushed out a bunch of old friends and replaced them with new frieds that have logged on in the last day or so. It needed me a ton of kudos. Not that I needed more kudos....

Yep, with the Activate fiasco, it's probably better to get friends via GameCenter (iPhone) or Google+ (Android). There is an active G+ group where you can find friends easily. On Android, you are limited to 20 friends from Google+, but if someone is logged out, it will cycle to another friend. There is also a glitch where you will get the new friend bonus kudos for anyone you haven't connected with in 3+ days.

We're good this way, really. I can ask hubby if he wants to start visiting, even if it is just Aura...but it's looking like not really

Aura is 100 percent safe .

I have visited and harvested her kingdom daily since i restarted in january . If something bad was going to happen to me again it would have happened by now .

Note that the free roads work for the 10 decorations to place for the quests. No need to spend gold or gems.

Thats a great idea about the free roads . I never thought of that . Wow this game is so versatile.

I just planted a bunch of sheep topiaries. I didn't think they were that great of a reward to make it worth buying, but they would be useful/valuable if I was maxed out. I wasn't sure how many I already had (I wish there was a way of knowing for things like this), so I just planted them all over the place with no regards to worrying about the xp bonuses. That way, when I get the reward, I will be able to have more than 100. I will just have to move them around if I rearrange my islands (which I am doing as I get the sanctums).

I have deployed all 100 of mine and love their high xp bonus and small size. The energy is not bad either, especially now that it's collectible with Beatrees.

How many sheep tops do you get if you complete that quest ?

I can see the value of them to peeps have already have the 100 sheep top cap . Me ? I have 7 sheepies and getting another in 2 days so its going to take a while .
