Skylanders Box, Screens and Videos

Several pieces of (possible placeholder) boxart and five new screenshots of Skylanders: Spyro's Adventure have turned up at Amazon.com. If the release date is also accurate then you can expect the game out on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Wii, PC, and the Nintendo 3DS on September 27th 2011.

Toys R Us also have the boxart and a bit more detailed descriptions of the contents of the Starter Packs which will include the game (obviously), the Portal of Power, 3 figures (Spyro, Gill Grunt and Trigger Happy), poster, 3 trading cards, a sticker sheet, and 3 web codes. Hence the large shape of the box.

And IGN have uploaded three new videos showcasing Spyro, Trigger Happy, and Gill Grunt.

His voice when he jumped is REALLY nasally. It reminds me of his old voice from the very first Spyro game. The nostalgia factor is off the charts right now.

I'm not saying it looks good, but it looks better than I originally thought. Spyro sounds awful though. I also watched a bit of the trigger happy video, and I think the other characters could ruin it quite a bit.

I just saw the Spyro gameplay vid and he was collecting rings instead of gems. Sonic much?

The collectibles appear to be lots of things. I saw rings, keys, gems, orbs, small shiny things ETC. The question is, what they all do.

Perhaps that are just collectibles and each character collects different things and are assigned to collecting one type of thing.

He meant that there was no strategy to flying in DotD. You just did it whenever you wanted to.

More like hovered into the air whenever you wanted to when the air current was low. Never mind, at least they tried, bless them, and failed.

I think the flight system is like the Gnasty's Loot level. You can fly as high as you can jump. Also, the gameplay for Spyro is similar to the old style, charging and flaming. <.>

Since when did Spyro collect rings? Sonic's gonna wonder where all those things are going.

That "flight" didn't look any more promising than the sad excuse of flight from DotD.

There are other treasures shown in those trailers than just rings, Shrazer. smilie

Sonic only collects rings. Spyro collects all kinds of treasure. There's a difference.

There are other collectables.

I saw the "Spyro Starter Pack" trailer and I HATE Spyro's new voice. Good(!) He sounds fits how he looks. The Hans Zimmer music so far is okay-ish. Spyro's not even on front of the cover (instead, a green guy with blue hair).
Let's I'll find a little bit of that TRUE Spyro magic a little bit in the upcoming Final Fantasy XIII-2 and SoulCalibur V.

First off, Stealth Elf is a girl. smilie

Second, design still doesn't make a game, and nor does the voice. Besides, who ever really expected a dragon to have a human-like voice? I never really got that....

Third, there is no "TRUE Spyro magic".

This is true.

Besides Spyro's... creepy sounds (though like CAV said, why would a dragon have a human voice?) I think this looks awesome so far, though I won't know for sure until I play it, right?

The game is showing us that there's more to collect than rings. In other words: The argument you just used for Sonic is the same argument that can be used for Skylanders as a whole.
